LONDON - Londoners passing through Trafalgar Square can be forgiven for continuing their journey in bemusement this week. To be confronted by two people reading aloud inside a glass box is not entirely usual.

As the two read off years from a book, their voices are amplified by speakers to a largely puzzled London audience.

"Reading One Million Years" is a work of conceptual art by the Japanese artist On Kawara, and is a reflection of his preoccupation with the passage and marking of time.

Sixteen live performers working eight-hour shifts, take it in turn reading off lists of years in sequence one hour at a time before resting.

The exhibition is due to run 24 hours a day until the end of the week.

So what's YOUR view on "Conceptual Art" such as this .....

Well since art is perception I am all for it...... I enjoy expression in most forms.... art, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder......so I guess more power to them!! I'm not sure I'd stay long to take it in......I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to art......."museum" type of art.....theather arts....books, and such..... Here in Boston at Fanueil Hall (Quincy Marketplace) there is always something going on in the conceptual arts.....mostly interactive, "street" art.....and its always enjoyable...... brings a smile to the face..... I would never want to stunt the art anyone!!

My thoughts are pretty much the same, Cate ...... art takes many forms, and is all creatively stimulating; we like some, we don't like others, but what we don't like shouldn't be stifled because of our dislike ..... everyone should be given the opportunity to express themselves creatively, whether painting a landscape in watercolours, or building a submarine from old car tyres ..... I visited the Tate Modern in London recently, and spent an afternoon there wandering around ...... absolutely intriguing a lot of the stuff in there, and quite thought-provoking ..... and so much of it!. You could easily spend a couple of days in there digesting all the exhibits .....

back in January, my brother and I spent the afternoon at our Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.....we took in the Rembrant exhibit.... we were both taken aback.... I think that's so often the case, Cate ...... the nearer and more familiar something is, the less likely we are to use it or go visit ......

Ok Saoirse...here's the problem.

What attracts people to sex chat sites like this? Many are married yet we are drawn to post on threads that have sexual overtones. Is there something missing from our lives that is fulfilled by chatting sexually with others?

I know I came across Lit for the stories first of all, then ventured into Chat.. then came in here (not literally speaking!!!! ) I loved meeting people from different parts of the world... and chatting about all sorts of stuff... sex included. I think the freedom of talking about sex to relative strangers is wonderful and a turn on in itself.. as a lot of what is discussed could not be spoken about in our every day friendships.

I would consider myself happily married, with the normal day to day stresses and problems facing any couple. But then I met my someone special online and he also became a very important part of my life. I love my hubby deeply, but now The Baron also has a piece of my heart that belongs to him alone.

He has broadened my mind.. helped me understand my hubby more.. and has given me sooo much. My life is infinitely better with him in it.

But was there something missing in my life before meeting him? I didnt think so... but there definitely would be now if I didnt have him.

I have to agree with you Sao.... I found this wonderous place from searching for erotic stories.....then found my way into chat....and am amazed at the friendships and special people here...I too love to chat (I know, no one needs to comment!) and to be able to talk with people all over the world is more than I expected..... a very happy surprize....

I am finding that through my experiences here I am opening up a new world....and gaining ability to talk with friends about sexual matters..... maybe its that show "Sex in the City" (which I have never seen) that has also brought sex into more conversations with friends..... what I have found is that by elminating some of the "taboo" of discussing sexual matters, it opens the door to other indepth discussions on many issues.... with a few of my friends we speak of our lives in every way..... so I agree that this has added to my life....in ways I would never have imagined!!

But!! I also feel this is a place of distraction for me....although I have very close ties to some people here.....(and I feel blessed to have them)..... I know this is a replacement for real life intimacy..... this is pseudo-intimacy.....I have spent my life running from intimacy of all kinds....not just sexual....... given that, I could rationalize my place here..... but in my heart I know what I am doing.... I am highly skilled at avoidance, unfortunately!! On the rationalization side, I can perhaps say that this is a classroom of sorts!! What I am learning and feeling here must be transfered into my real life here!

SINGAPORE (March 10) - Unwanted pet fish will be put up for adoption in Singapore next week in an attempt to spare them from being flushed down the toilet, a fish show organizer said Wednesday.

''Fish have their lives, and they have feelings too,'' said Carol Lian, an organizer of the Singapore International Fish Show.

Fish owners with second thoughts can put their finned friends up for up for adoption at the four-day show, which starts Friday, Lian said.

''It would be more humane to bring the fish up for adoption rather than flushing them down the toilet or flinging them into the drain,'' she said.

Animal control officials said they didn't know how widespread fish-flushing was in this wealthy Southeast Asian city-state.

''Nobody knows the magnitude of the problem, or if its exists at all,'' said Goh Shih Yong, spokesman for the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority. ''If it happens, it would take place in the privacy of people's homes.''

Organizers say they expect to draw 80,000 people from across Asia to the coming exhibition, which features exotic fish displays and fish beauty competitions.

Lian said she got the adoption idea from similar programs for unwanted cats, dogs and rabbits. She said she's adopted two goldfish and six parrotfish from people who could no longer care for them.

Really, I have a very short attention span ..... it's being a Sagittarian, I think ...... we tend to flit from one thing to another like a butterfly going from flower to flower, never stopping too long in the same place.

So I think about these sort of things for a while, and when the answer doesn't just rear up and hit me in the face, I tend to get bored after a while, and just lose interest .....
