For people with tatoos (and I know we have 'em):

Which area hurts less, the upper chest about 2 inches in from where your shoulder meets your body, or upper back in the same spot...what I mean is if drew a line through thru your body from the spot on your chest to your back. Get it? :)

How badly does it hurt...more or less than a typical cartlidge piercing?

What's it like afterwards?

For people without tatoos (guys and girls):

Do you think small tatoos look flattering or trashy on most women? What I'm thinking of getting is about 1 1/2 inch.

What about in a more formal setting, like a woman wearing an evening gown or formal dress? Good or trashy?

I finally found what I want to get, a small Phoenix-the mythical bird, not the city, but I don't want to be in a ton of pain. I might be overly self-concious, but other people's opinions do matter to me...it won't make a decision for me but it might influence it. I'm pretty sure (95%) that I want it done but I want to be totally sure.

When it comes to tattoos its kinda hard to say what size looks trashy and what doesn't. It's a matter of what it looks like on you, it just haves to suit you and then it'll be sexy...BTW, I love tattoos ;)

Pain is subjective, for one person a cut finger is agony for another you could cut that finger off and they wouldn't even blink.

Tatoo's aren't that painful but they can be a little sore, I think smaller rather than larger always looks better on a woman and feminine tatoo's look a lot better on a woman than the dagger's and skulls shit that some seem to like.

I have a tatoo and know people who are covered in them, I found it quite a natural high to get tatoo'd and I would urge you to think long and hard about what you are gonna get done and where, I think that there's something so sexy about a woman getting undressed in front of you and suddenly finding she's got a tatoo :D

I Viewed, so I'll Comment

First off, my body is virgin. No tats, no piercings.
For one thing, I don't like pain.

I don't think tattoos are necessarilly trashy on women. The Phenix bird sounds cool. The shoulder is a pretty conspicuous area, though....you might want to opt for something a little less conspicuous, and a little more optional for viewing. Upper thigh??
Just a thought.

Then again, a tat showing while wearing an evening gown? Hmmmmmmm. Maybe.

Just my 2-cents worth....for what it's worth, or not worth.
MrB

to answer your question i have 8 tats at this time while none on the chest i do have 2 on my back (each sholder ) and i can say it does hurt on the back werse then any other place i have them (arms/legs) but as somone said pain is subjective and women can tolerate more then us silly guys. as for trashy that to is of oppinion. my wife has one (on her chest)and i think it's sexy as hell so go for it.

tats

well the one on the arm would actually hurt less than the one on the back! Your arm is subjected to many more rough up ness - ie I mean it hits lots of things more than your back - unless your profession is one of on your back pay me the money types - so it develops a high pain tolerance than your back!!
There
I have a few tats none of em hurt alot - but inner thigh stung!

I don't have any on my chest so I don't know what that feels like BUT, I do have one on my shoulder...it hurt like hell, I hate it cause the guy screwed it up but I don't have to look at it so it's not so bad. I do have to take it into consideration when dressing for certain events....some people don't care if their tattoos are hanging out at church/weddings/dinner @ the in-laws....but I do so I tend to keep it covered.

Now the one I have on my inside right ankle I just adore....it hurt but it was numb after a few minutes........plus I was a Lot skinnier back then so it was pretty much needle & bone. it is small but meaningful and worth every second of pain.

small tats on women i think are very flattering . i happen to like them on or near the bikini line , small of the back (which i hear is very painful) ankle etc. someplace where it's a little bit of a surprise when you're undressing her .

as for where does it hurt the most?

well you gotta think , anywhere the sun doesn't shine is going to be painful , also anywhere the skin is close to the bone . that's gonna hurt alot too . what i'm getting done is the angel from Led Zeppelin swan song label on one shoulder , then aa mean lookin devil on the other (haven't made a deffinite choice on that one as of yet ) . representing the duality of man . i hope that my rambling on here has helped you out!

IMHO, tatoos an women are a major turnoff, especially in a formal setting like you mentioned. Of course, superficial appearences aren't everything but I'm much less likely to approach a woman with a tat. Not necessarily because they're trashy, I just find them ugly.

If you stick with women with lots of hair, you may not see a lot of the tats. :D

Use discretion in picking the place for you tat.

I have a job. My job amy, at time, require me to wear formal wear--I would never ever want the people who sign my checks to get a bad impression of me because of tattoos hanging out.

I also agree that tattoos should not be placed so that they are "in your face" to everyone you meet. That is just silly to me and detracts from the person wearing them. (I feel the same way about makeup, jewelry, clothes, etc.)

I do have 2 tattoos--one on my outer left thigh and one on my lower back.
The one on my leg shows when I wear shorts and the occassional skirt.
The one on my back is only seen by lovers and people at the nudists' resort I vacation at.

A suggestion for those with tats and kids, as a reward, sometimes I let my son use his markers and color mine--it gets me a nice mini-back massage and entertains him!
; )

I have four tattoos, none large, and only one hurt. The one on my upper shoulderblade didn't hurt. It was my first tattoo, and the artist was quite good with me, very gentle and explaining everything that he was doing. My second one was on top of my foot, and that one did hurt...a lot. The pain I went through with that one made the pain of the last two seem like nothing.

As for what looks trashy or not...well that's your own personal opinion. If you're concerned that others will think your tattoo will be trashy looking, perhaps you should re-consider getting one at all. Just my two cents worth.

The pain tolerance level varies from person to person. I have 5 tats on my arms an legs and none hurt much at all.

All in all I think tats are EXTREMELY sexy on a woman.:p The more the merrier.....

I have two tattoo's myself, one on each of my upper arm, so they are coverd even when I wear short sleeved shirts, and no one will know and take notice of them unless I really show them off.

As for the pain, it wasn't to bad when I got them done, but then again I somehow can distance myself a bit from the pain when it's needed.

I have to admit that I don't like the big tattoos at all, I prefer the smaller ones, that don't cover to much skin, but then again that's my opinion.

I'm going to get my first tattoo on my 25th birthday.... which is still five months away......

and this thread was informative...... because I don't want to look trashy... lol

and all suggestions of what to get are welcome lol

still haven't decided yet.

Can I just say that subtle is sexy and less is more when it comes to tatoo's on women, and good luck :D

Personally..................... I think that women with tastefull tats wear them very nicely!................ I prefer a Tribal tat............. gonna get a tribal armband myself (also to cover an existing one from 20 years ago).....................

And the best place for me as far as womens's tats goes has got to be the small of the back, or inner thigh................... either way, I'm the winner cuz I get to enjoy it everytime I see it...............
