Today was my Granny's 95th birthday celebration. Of her 7 siblings, she is the oldest and still looks the best. She can play bridge with the best of them...curled until she was past 80...can still sew by hand...and bitches when the hotel doesn't put that extra bottle of booze in the alcoholic punch. :D

We had 30-odd family members and friends there to celebrate my Granny's life - aged 8 to 95. It was pretty cool. My kids loved it...my generation had a blast...my parents' generation smiled proudly...and my Granny held court.

She tried to tell us that this would be her last birthday but seeing as how her mother lived to be 102...I can pretty much count on a few more celebrations with her.

Do you have grandparents? How old is the oldest member in your family?

Don't know the age of the oldest member....in late 70s maybe early 80s....my grandmother's brother...

Happy b-day to your granny...

My grandpa turned 90 this summer. He's almost blind, very hard of hearing and has a horrid cough from working in a foundry for years. And in January he leaves for 30 days in Florida with his sister. He plays cards with seniors in his building - using special magnifying glasses my dad made for him, and a bright light over his head. He goes constantly on bus trips, where he is the designated dirty joke teller during the rides. He knows more silly, and naughty jokes than anyone I know. He flrts with little old ladies - even when he has no idea who they are.

He is totally the spiffiest, sexiest little old guy I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

I haven't heard the term "spiffy" in forever. :D

Oldest is a great aunt at 102. And she is in better shape than some of the generation that came after her.

That is so cool. Many of my relatives have lived past 90 with full brain and body function. I consider myself so lucky to have known and loved all my great-grandparents and now my kids are also blessed with that.

i only have 2 left, grandfather on moms side who just turned 70 something, not sure of his age, but its like middle 70's, gramdmother on dads side who is about the ame age as him, or so, can never get a straight answer from them, and as for oldest relarive i have a great uncle on the seneca reservation who is 100 something years old that i have never met,

i never knew my grandparents on my fathers side, but i did have the pleasure of knowing my moms parents. my grandfather died in 1971 of complications from alzheimers, the interesting thing was that my grandmother took care of him up till the end. she died in 1989 at the age of 90. she outlived her 2nd daughter, i still recall her hurt at my aunts funeral. no matter what the age, parents are not suppose to outlive their children. enjoy your family, it is all you really have.:)

My grandfather died at 95 a few years ago, one of my favorite people ever.

He was born and died in the same room, same bed.

My grandmother on the other side of the family lived to 97. Her and a friend would drive through town with traffic backed up about three blocks behind them flipping-off everyone that blew a horn.

She was the coolest.

Grandma was 103 when she passed away! Grandpa only made it to 98 that's on my mother's side. Dad's mom made it to 90 but papa died when he was 77. I might have a few years left.
