Kudos to all those who were nominated, as well as the winners. :D :nana: :D
What about those of us who trudged up a long, hot, dusty trail through monsoon rains and hip-deep snowdrifts (both ways) to stand in line for hours just to vote for those clowns? :)

Congratulations to all the winners and finalist. It's nice to see AH make such a good showing not only in finalist but as Winners!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone deserves to pat themselves on the back and smoke a victory cigar. I can't wait to see how this next year is going to be. I'm sure AH will do well and provide more excellent stories!!!!!!!!

We should have our heads examined. :p

I destroyed my monitor trying to get my chads to stop dangling.

Congratulations, of course.

But appreciation, too. It is some of these stories that brought me here in the first place! Thanks.

And my next long reading list is pre-made for me. I'm sure most will pass my "jealous" test.

Bummer ~~ I was hoping we'd get a "W" beside our stories...

My next goal lol

The little "w" should be next to your story now. Mine was this morning. Congrats on your win. :)

Nope. I think he was in Palm Springs. But I did run into this big, fat, white guy, the Abdominal Snowman. :p:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

And of course a thank you for those who voted for my story.
Although I sincerely hope none of you regulars voted for that one, because I don't believe one of you understands Dutch.
That would be the opposite of trolling. Is that elfing?

:D

Prizes? What prizes? I thought it was all about the honor of being nominated/chosen.

ROFLMAO

Waarom niet?

De nederlandse taal is niet zo moeilijk! In Amsterdam, zelfs de kleine kinderen Nederlands spreken.

Ik hou van uw neologisme. :D
Natuurlijk, heb ik uw met een vijf- bom 'gegelved'! :p

Gelukswensen :rose:

I want to be immortal. :nana:

The thought of you all going round elfing each other is just delicious. :D :D

Congratulations to the winners and everyone who was nominated.

With so many AHers in the running, this was the first year I've followed the voting closely. At the risk of losing the crown of second runner-up to Miss Congeniality, it's my duty as Patron Saint to say I noticed something disturbing.

In a few categories, a last-minute surge of votes resulted in dramatic come-from-behind wins. I wouldn't have given it a second thought, if not for the huge number of votes so close to the deadline. If it's normal for most people to vote at the last minute, shouldn't we expect to see a similar increase in numbers for other nominees in the category?

I know the authors can't stop their fans from going a little crazy, and maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there. (Pardon my skepticism; I'm a Florida voter.)

Does anyone else think the votes should be invisible until the winners are announced? Does anyone have a can opener for these canned worms?

Seems like a good idea to me She.
In most other elections votes aren't tallied till all voting is done.

:D

Won't stop people from voting in a weird way though.
Just like nominating someone as most influential because he or she is your favorite writer/poet. In my opinion that's not the same.

I think that's a great idea. I'm not sure how much it would help, but it certainly couldn't hurt. Much better, I think, than the idea to make it a public poll that shows whom everyone voted for.

Interesting. And thanks for reading and voting.

I'm all for it. Invis voting would probably deter the last minute surges.

I'd have preferred that. It was a bit demoralising to see myself falling further and further behind as March went on. With hidden voting, I could have worried right into April
