I don't think Marxist expected the comments he got in this thread. He thought all of you would jump on his bandwagon and comment negatively on my tv purchase.-geisha.grrrl- said:I don't understand why you have to defend yourself. If that idea held true that Cheyenne shouldn't buy the tv because of Katrina, then we should all not buy anything except meat, bread, eggs and milk. One pair of shoes per two years, one pair of pants, one shirt, two changes of knickers and a jumper for the winter. The rest of our money should go to people all over the world who need food, clothing and shelter.
I don't think anybody is going to do that.
She's got the money, let her buy the fucking tv without having to hear your mouth.

It's amazing to me that someone could spend that kind of money on a vulgar luxury item while other Americans are spending another night sleeping in their own shit.
Wow! You must watch a LOT of TV if you'd wear out 60,000 hours of screen life in 7 years!Shagly said:Throw away your money if you want to, the set will last 7 years tops.
7 years is a lifetime...............Cheyenne said:Wow! You must watch a LOT of TV if you'd wear out 60,000 hours of screen life in 7 years!![]()

Hell if I know! To sum it up, the tv should last much longer than 7 years with a 60,000 hour life. I'm not sure why the one poster thinks it will last only 7 years.JammieDodger said:Dead 7 year olds?

Yeah, I don't actually know what we're discussing here.

Then my comment was still correct- he must watch a LOT of tv for it to only last 7 years with a 60,000 hour life.JammieDodger said:Well.. technically speaking, it will "only" last seven years.. non-stop..

Hey, maybe that's Shagly's trick!SaintPeter said:I hope you installed it within sight of the bathroom.

If it's a flat screen put it in the bedroom and collect those naughty DVD's.Cheyenne said:Hey, maybe that's Shagly's trick!

Get ready 'cause I believe Texas declared "no more room at the inn" and the next load of 15-25,000 "people seeking refuge" is coming to Denver. Sorry.![]()
JammieDodger said:I have to say, I honestly can't understand you paying that amount.. the thing will devalue just like that *clicks fingers* ..I'm obviously not having a go.. but honestly, don't you just feel awfull watching that amount of money disappear? I know I would.. you coulda gone on a holiday! I guess I don't understand why people value that extra bit of definition or space tv-wise for so much.. I'd never spend more than £250.
badmatt said:And in the end...just so you know, you can always tell what a company thinks of their own product. The longest factory warranty out there on standard retail televisions is 1 year. Not too many companies doing that anymore. If I'm not mistaken, in the states it's only Toshiba and Mitsubishi (which doesn't make picture tubes anymore despite that the 40" I have in my bedroom still gets rated as the best picture tube ever made, go figure on that)...the standard parts and labor warranty on almost every other brand is 1 year parts 30-90 days labor....what does that tell you? in about 90 days they expect someone to have to work on your tv.
