"Erotic Horror".

Chicklet, is it optional or mandatory?

I hope we don't have to fill it. I just read the story, and I think it is too extreme for the extreme category!

I don't want any part of that!!!

:(

So, how/why did that story get a new category called "erotic horror" instead of going over to extreme? I mean, the whole bloody latex glove murder sounds like something that would have been tossed there in the past.

wierd

I have these books, called "Hot Blood"- there erotic horror. I was just looking at it today and wondering why lit didn't have an erotic horror category. wierd.

I think its cool. Its not exactly the same as extreme, but the stories will probably be pretty extreme. But you know when you go there what your gonna get.

Right. But, it just makes me wonder what makes a story move to "extreme" and what allows a story to "stay at Lit".

I beg to differ, sweetnpetite. I just read both stories that have been posted there. The first one, "Bloody Mary", actually was a pretty cool story. "Distress"? I found nothing erotic about it. In fact, I found it to be mysogynistic and am, quite frankly, shocked that Laurel has even posted this story here. I don't even think it belongs on the "Extreme" site. I do know of one site that allows snuff stories (and that is the correct term for this type of story - just as in snuff films), and I no longer go there because I find this type of story extremely upsetting. And this coming from some one who normally can handle just about anything.

When I was first looking for free stories to get off to, I found similiar stuff: men cooking and eating female body parts, cutting of a clitoris to be used elsewhere, torture, snuff, and other forms of obviously disturbing behavior. I'm sad to see it has made it's way to Lit. After all, if we can have stories here about a man who obviously hates women and is a serial murderer, then I think we need to allow true non-consent stories. After all, at least in a non-consent (true, violent rape) no one has to die. So what would be the big diff? Why would women find violent non-consent stories repulsive, and find the story "Distressed" kinda cool? Name of category? I don't think so. Girl getting tied up and raped against her will is still non-consent, even if the category is entitled "horror". And what next? Why not allow teen sex? What's the real difference if the female is 18 or 15? If we can write about people being murdered for sexual gratification, why not write a story about a 50 yr old guy getting it on with some 15 yr old school girl? I think the sex between the 50 yr old and 15 yr old is a LOT less offensive than reading about how some guy murdered a woman for some sort of bizarre and perverse "pleasure". It seems the line in the sand has now become "fuzzy". If snuff is allowed, then the floodgates should be opened and allow anything and everything.

Yeah, I guess you could say I'm gonna state my opinion to Laurel.

Also - Chicklet? Oh Chicklet? Please tell me this category falls outside of the 2003 Survivor series? I'm trying to avoid having to do the immunity thing, but if this stays I will sign up for immunity.

Horror

I thought it was an add on, as Chicklet did say at the begining of the contest that there might be additions for the contest as they placed new catagories in. Personally speaking, I find Horror an easier venue for me, and just this year took to writing erotica. With the horror now added in, it gives me a chance to get back to my (ahem) roots.

Later all.

Oh, God. I have just read "Distress" and am really disturbed. I truly do not understand why it's not in Extreme.

I'm not a huge horror fan, but I have really enjoyed Stephen King. He is a horror writer isn't he? Or is he something else? Because if his stuff is a good example of horror, then Distress is not horror, but something else entirely.

Chicklet, if this category is added on, can I please switch my immunity from non-English to this? I just claimed it an hour ago... if not, no problem I will just use my next one... just wanted to make a statement.

I love Stephen King, and yes, his work is classified (normally) in the horror genre.

I think if people wish to make a statement or express their opinions, a PM or email to Laurel might be the best option. It lets her know what people are thinking, IMO.

Erotic Horror

We went though this last year, too, with the additions of a few new categories. Erotic Horror *WILL* be added to our lists - I'll go put it in the top scorecard as soon as I'm done posting this. It should be easy enough for everyone to edit and add it in, but if you have a problem don't be afraid to scream like a banshee for help.

Nikki, I'd like to say it's fine with me for you to switch your immunity, but this year we're trying to make it a really hard decision and if I make an exception I might get kicked in the butt later = ( so, can you please use the next one?

Everybody, you guys just have fun with this category. Write what "horror" means TO YOU. You don't have to fill it with gore to get it in that category - everyone knows that every fetish/genre has tons and tons of break-offs. There are only two stories in there as of yet, and that's great for us contest wise! Keep that in mind, a happy attitude at heart, and have fun.

Re: Re: wierd

Yeah, I thought that story was pretty gross. Some of the ones in my book are too. I rememer one eherre the woman crushes the mans head between her thies while he's going down on her. I can't remember if I was aroused but something about it was interesting to me.

Yeah, that's what I figured. It's fair enough. When I posted above I was still reeling from the images presented in Distress. But after a couple of hours I think it might be kind of fun to think about a horror story anyway, one that doesn't involve what that story involved.

Actually, I'm kinda glad this category came up. I have a series of 7 stories in the work that will fit this category to a... what IS that saying? Fit to a T? Doesn't make sense..?

Anywho, I like crime stories and horror movies. Done the right way, a horror story can be very erotic. The really scary stories don't have gore and blood, they just hint it.

Somehow I think that a knife would be a rather useless weapon against Snape...

How you read The Squibs yet? *anxious*

see now I imagine Snape would quite enjoy that type of thing.

More random thoughts on Erotic Horror

I'm excited.

I *love* horror stories, even though I've never written one. I imagine that the first stories we'll get pouring in there would probably have ended up in Science Fiction/Fantasy, because sometimes there's a thin line between the subjects.

<tingles>

I don't know that I'm going to be able to actually *write* one of those stories, but I'm excited = )

Oh, I'm sure once you get going on something...it will better than you ever imagined ;)

Perhaps you should revisit that Vampire idea we were talking about ages ago.

This post made me think- the story doenst have to end in horror for the woman (or man) having sex (ie, snuff) but could be a man and woman (or whatever combination you prefer) working on a mystery of somekinds- the fear adds to the energy of the story, they are scared together and it hightens there arousal. (ie, scully and moulder) a person *could* get killed but that's not part of the sexual element, but instead the fear element. Also, one character could rescue another from the "horror" element and that could lead to sex, or in a case like "Silence of the Lambs" clarice and Hanibal could get it on, bc we know that he would never hurt her. A murderer could use sex to distract investigators from the truth. The possiblitlies are endless. THere's a really good oportunity here for some really great erotica to be written. (If anyone accepts the challenge)

I have an idea, 2 HS or college students for whatever reason are goaded into spending the night in a "haunted house" The girl is very frightened adn the boy takes the oportunity to get into her pants. But of course, there has to be a twist. There's always a twist:)

Sorry to be a pain, but could anyone tell me what numbers came up yesterday? (Don't we have until tomorrow-Friday-to still claim an immunity?) I was out of town and had no access to a computer. :(

hey

you still have until Friday to check out the Immunities thread. You didn't win anything, though = ( Hardly any of us did! We're wondering what DarlingNikki has up her sleeve ;)

New category: Erotic Letters and Transcripts

It seems Laurel wants to make it as hard as possible to get that "all categories" bonus :)
