Hello

Ive posted my first story! very exciting and would LOVE feedback (pretty please master, miss, slave or sub!). I don't mind which - Im a bit switchy like that ;0)

My main questions are these:

1. how do you edit once published? im sure its possible but dont know where!
2. is it better to write one story of 10k or publish a series of 3 as I have done. (I chose this format at my favourite stories are published this way and anything over 5k often feels a bit daunting!

It would be an honour to hear your thoughts for Tall, Young & Well Hung. A cougars game of tease with a 10inch monster cock lad. Enjoy!

1. You can edit from your control panel by adding the edited text as a new story. Link. Short version: put EDITED in the title so they know which one to replace; if it's too long to fit, put the full title in the Notes to Admin. It may also be prudent to include a few words about what you changed, i.e., if it's just some spelling and grammar corrections or if you added substantial new content which they'll need to review to make sure the story is still compliant.
Edits are low priority for the site, so it could take weeks, so be patient. The original will still be up until the new version replaces it.

2. There's no consensus, although there are strident partisans of both views. Most people say that scores tend to be higher on the longer works, if that matters to you. Breaking a story up tends to increase your visibility somewhat, thanks to being on the New lists more frequently, so it might help with attracting more followers than a single installment (although not as much as writing well, I suspect). So, it's kind of a toss-up, depending on what kind of audience you hope to reach and what kind of reaction you want from them. If you prefer shorter works as a reader, there's a good chance you've written your story with natural breakpoints anyway. I generally follow the advice of 'write things that you'd like to read,' so even my longer works tend to be written in discrete chunks for easy slicing. Yours might be the same.

hello again @Bamagan

thanks for the advice - still feeling excited at publishing. Guess the dopamine wears off after 100 postings!

For me, the dopamine wore off after my first 'hate mail' (although that was on a different site).
One curious thing about the voting system here is that it mimics life in a weird way. People sometimes remark (or lament) that it's easier to forget a dozen compliments than a single insult. The way the 'hot' badge works is kind of the same. In order to maintain it, you need seven 5s for each voter who gave it a 1. Like a person struggling to put unkind words behind them, a story's score can be very slow to 'forget' any hate it receives.
Judging by the way a lot of people talk around these parts, that's about when their dopamine levels plunge. Good luck to you!

Hi @TheAlphabetGirl , I read your story, and liked it!

As an occasional fellow Northern Line traveller, I could relate right from the start.

Your writing style is great, unobtrusive, like someone speaking.

I'm kind of hoping there will be more than just some BDSM games between the protags; I mean some genuine conflict. That's what I always aim for myself, even though it's not what a lot of readers are looking for -- sometimes a great description of sex or BDSM play is all you need to satisfy the reader.

SPOILER:

One thing I'll say, "10-inch dick"s are sometimes the brunt of jokes here, being considered a porn cliche. But in the case of your story, you actually get away with it, because you make it part of the story, rather than a throwaway description. Of course there are some guys blessed, or cursed, with big dicks, and your male protag is just about realistic enough to stretch the reader's pussy, but not her imagination too much. But it definetely makes the story a femsub fantasy.

A great start, and if you keep the balance between fantasy and reality from tipping too far into fantasy, it will be a great story.

The consensus, whenever this comes up, is that a 10k story will generally run better than 3 x short chapters. Your chapters are one Lit page, which by the standards of this site, is very short.

Thank-you Nice90sguy! That's funny on the spoiler alert as my writings are real people at the heart of them and the main character 'David' is prob more an eye watering 11 inches! lol. Not that we ever met. like you say - its not necessarily a blessing!!

Now, Ive been thinking about the 'satisfy the reader' part. Cant remember who said it but someone suggested looking at peoples writing styles was a tip. It seems the more extreme BSDM gets the crowning glories. Same with the taboo/incest category.

So do we write to build eye balls numbers or to give a fewer number of people that are into a similar thing a bit of a thrill as they can imagine themselves in situ? Im not sure I have an answer but I do like to ponder on these things!

Oh to live in a society where we just lift each other up hey @Bamagan. I'm confused (aka naive) why anyone would send hate mail though. Someone upset by the story line I guess, but thats sad when the whole point of sites like lit... freedom of speech & no judgement right. Just read another category if its not your cup of tea would be my thinking. But then again I wouldn't ever rate someone 1 star even if it wasnt a great story by my tastes!

hello & thank you again @ElectricBlue! One story (probably still short in the grand scheme of things) coming right up

The obvious, and most common answer to this, at least from writers on this site, is to write for yourself, or rather, for yourself as a a reader -- i.e. write the story you want to read!
