Well, 13 tornados hit the clovis/portales/logan area last night. The damage here is insane, but not to the extenet of Katrina or Rita. I spent all morning pulling trees out of peoples living rooms and the roofs of businesses off of trailer parks. It's horriic. I am alright, it missed my house by three or four blocks. I just heard that they found the bodies of nine people in a trailer park on the skirts. So far, those are the only fatalities I've heard of.

That's horrible! I can't even find a news story on it in google or MSN!

I found the story. It appears that the damage is considerable and I can only hope for as few injuries/deaths as possible. :rose:

wow, yikes!
Only a few news items show up on Google as of yet. It doesn't look like there's a complete count yet.

Glad you're safe!

Scary shit.

I was too young to remember the F4 that came close to my house.

Sending positive thoughts to you and yours and everyone affected by this disaster.

Well, it appears the rumors running around about the nine dead were just that, rumors. Thank GOD. I have seen the news reports and am actually a bit dissappointed. We are being very under represented. It is scary how much damage was done here. The people in Clovis are shocked at the 30 seconds of news coverage we are getting. it seems wrong. The town has always been one to be supportive on the large and small scale though, so we are taking care of our own.
People were driving all over offering food and water to people who were woking on the damage, we all really pulled together.
What is sad, is that the most damage was done to the poor. The Extreme poor.
The few businesses that got hit, the owners have the money to rebuild but not so the poor. Most of them couldn't even afford insurance.

I'm glad to hear that you're safe.

However, and mostly for the benefit of those who have never been through something like this, now comes the hard part. The very poor who survive often come away with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Now comes the struggle of trying to survive with nothing. :rose:
