🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

@Brianna_38 and @AngelicaS1780 thanks so much for sharing the meditation stuff. I was really into it a few years ago and it helped me through some hard times. It feels amazing to put your brain and body on standby. I have to get back into it.

Do any of you have experience with float tanks? I did it a couple times last year. It was incredible and I need to do more of that kind of stuff.
Why would I want to be stuck in a tank with my own thoughts? Jesus Christ that sounds fucking awful.

The one that I did was a little more on the spa-friendly and comfortable side. It was pretty great. And I chilled out and had carrotjuice after. Good times. 😎

You mean to tell me it's not for you? Whaaaaaat? :p
Meditation is for people with time. I’d spend the entire time thinking how I have so much other shit I have to do. Which is exactly what I did when I gave yoga a try multiple times. Relaxation is a luxury for people like me (type A full time working parents). I’m glad it helps some folks but if I had an hour a day combined to meditate, I could get so much other stuff done including nap.
I also don’t think ‘meditation’ needs to be defined by a religion. When I did spin every AM in the Before Times, that was my version of meditation. When I stand in the shower and just enjoy the hot water, that’s a meditation for me. It being outlined how to be mindful is a big stress causer for me. But if you enjoy it, enjoy it! Everyone likes different stuff.

I apologize if that's how I'm coming across. I'm the last person who should be telling anyone how to live their lives. I'm just sharing what works for me. If it helps someone else, great! If not, that's fine too. I believe the purpose of this thread is to learn from and support each other. If I've overstepped, then I am truly sorry.
I appreciate them. I would like to learn more so I hope that you continue sharing them.

You do you. Just please don’t come at me with ‘if you just prioritized your time differently…’ I personally don’t need to be proselytized to.

I thought the purpose of the thread was to discuss physical activity/fitness, share fitness goals and accomplishments. Wellness is a whole other category (and industry), and it is obviously fine if people buy into wellness culture and it helps to ‘center’ them or whatever term you want to use. Go for it. I’m definitely not going to neg on what makes people feel better.

Anyway, my gym is closed for some repairs but I also have a stupid busy weekend. Went for a family walk last night in the beautiful weather. I hope to be back in the studio on Monday if possible - I’d hate to see it closed much longer because I’ve made huge progress in just the last few weeks in terms of strength and endurance. I’ll try to fit a peloton ride in if I can find the time and space. It was supposed to be a slow weekend but that turn a turn yesterday.

Enjoy whatever physical activity y’all have this weekend!

I stepped on the scale last night 😪😪😪

As a couple we need to eat better. How do I suggest to my wife this message. She loves cooking dinner.

The day I threw away the scale was the day my relationship with fitness and food became significantly improved. It’s not for everyone, that’s for sure, but it’s helped me tremendously.

I'm actually curious - why are you all doing the exercises you do? To lose weight? To gain strength? To increase cardio? To look a certain way? Something else?
If it's some combination, which is the primary drive for you?

For me, it's an even mix of cardio, strength, and balancing a job that has me in a chair for absurd hours at a time.

I have put on weight so would like to get back to where I was 5 years ago. I know it's gonna be a long haul and I don't do well with scales etc so I don't actually know my current weight.

I'm focusing on core strength as I don't care my shape or size but I want to feel strong enough to open jars and fit enough to climb stairs without feeling tired or out of breath at the top.

When I feel better about my core I'll focus more on specific strength training, but I don't wanna spook myself too soon.

Good morning All ☀️

Great question Alpine. I workout so I feel better physically and mentally. I want to look good, and not lose strength or mobility as I get older.

To look even slightly better naked for you.
