It's genetic, so there's not really anything you can do. Except accept and adapt, aka choose a hairstyle accordingly. Whatever you do, don't comb over...
In the 90s my hair was going pretty fast. I decided to go out in a blaze of glory and grow it out. It got past my shoulders and I actually had my stepmother French braid it when I got married. I knew it wouldn’t last forever but enjoyed it while I had it. The moment of truth came when we were buying a car when I saw one of the middle aged salesmen walking around bald as a bowling ball, but with two pathetic little strands of hair over the back of his collar. I swore I would never be that guy and cut it soon after.
My late husband had a clear bald spot when we met and he was fretting over it. I finally managed to tell him that shaving everything off isn't the only viable option - he looked better with some hair, and his scalp thanked for having 1-2cm growth.
Wifey & I are good. Doing a bit of spring cleaning by burning out a shredder.
