Day 6: A song with a great bridge

I know Taylor Swift is not universally loved here... But there are some songs that she's written that just hit me - and so many of her songs have such good bridges. She's a fabulous lyricist. Her songs are poetry set to a melody... She got me through my divorce years ago so I will always be a loyal fan girl.

All art is deeply personal.

You love what you love why you love it. And she can write and perform very well. I appreciate her earlier stuff more, but don't hate her at all.

Day 7: A song that deserves more credit

Hardly anyone outside Canada knows of this band, that's a shame. But then it's 90s Canadian goth music so pretty niche.

Day 7: A song that deserves more credit

The LGBTQ+ community has not had it easy in Sweden. Not on the level of open persecution, but... it's the little things. The jibes. The casual phobia. The remarks. In some areas it's systemic. Worse. A lot worse...

Anyway, not the time or place for a deep-dive into that, just some necesarry background. Ola Salo is openly bisexual, and the amount of hate and vitriol his band The Ark received for that in the 90's drove a wedge between them and greatness. Which fucking sucks, because their music was incredible. They could have gone... far.

If you were caught listening to them in school you'd be, at best, ridiculed. At worst, ostrasized... :(

The Ark - It takes a fool to remain sane

A battle-cry for us Others 💕🏳️‍🌈

One of the greatest country songs written from the band that brought you Stacey’s Mom. RIP Adam Schlesinger.

Hung Up On You - Fountains Of Wayne

Couldn’t agree more.

So many of their songs were just outstanding. (Even Schlesinger wrote for that thing that you do)
