Day 2: A song that has multiple meanings

You know how you listen to a song in your 20's and you get one meaning from it, then you listen again in your 40's and get a completely different take?

That's all I'm going to write because I haven't started drinking yet and it's Labor Day... I don't want to think too much. But yes... I hadn't listened to FF for about 20 years and just decided to start again and my brain is like... wtf?

Dark Of The Matinée - Franz Ferdinand

Day 3: A song that is an album title track

Marc Bolan... I often wonder where rock and glam would be at today, had he not died way too young. One of those brilliant once-in-a-generation musicians, he birthed an entire genre on his own. He was very close with David Bowie, who was his funeral singer, and I firmly believe Ziggy would have sounded a lot different if the two hadn't pushed each other to greatness.

I hope you're being your most fabulous self, where ever you are, you beautiful beautiful man 💕

Marc Bolan's T.Rex - Dandy in the Underworld
Title track of his last ever album back in '77.

Day 2: A song that has many meanings

Most punk rock and hardcore songs are pretty straightforward so there’s not much room for interpretation.

So I immediately thought of Guided by Voices. I have no fucking idea what any of their songs mean. They tend to all sound good, have catchy hooks but they lyrics are 100% meaningless or meaningful. I’m really not sure.

This is one of my favorite songs by them. I wish I could tell you what this song means or is about.

Day 2: A song that has many meanings

One of my favorite albums growing up... was Ram. I love every song on that album.

Imagine my sadness when, as an adult, I saw something alluding to the actual hidden meaning of these songs I love. I was a bit crushed... but can so plainly see it now, as an adult. And while I still love the song... now? It kind of makes me sad.

Ooh a great choice 😍 I don't really know much T. Rex music but now I'm inspired to listen to more. I fell in love with that song relatively recently in The Pursuit of Love. Andrew Scott dancing in a silk robe is one of the most wonderful scenes in a period show imo.

I very much recommend watching Billy Elliot if you've never seen it! A coming of age drama set in the 80s working class britain. It's a beautiful story of rebellion and about finding yourself, set to a soundtrack primarily of T.Rex songs 🥰 It's how I first fell in love!

Hot Priest will always be a treat to watch

But don't you come here and say I didn't warn you
About the way your world can alter
And oh how you try to command it all still
Every single time it all shifts one way or the other
