There's really quite nothing like a musical dance number at a funeral to put some pep in your stepDay 7: A song that makes you feel energized.
An infinity of choices but I’ve been on an MCR kick so here you go.
That hair on Loggins was a choice, wasn't it?Day 7: A song that makes you feel energized.
I have a lot of songs that qualify... this one just sounded like a fun one to share today.
Loggins & Messina - Your Mama Don't Dance
I am getting "Video Unavailable," so I am posting one that is so I can see it. Because that is how I am.Day 7: A song that makes you feel energized
So many choices for today but I've been trying to post songs that have either never been shared here, or only minimally shared.
This song always gets my booty shaking, and it's just so queer. For me it recalls simpler times. Not simpler as in easier but simpler as in we had nothing but the pals and the parties and we had so much fucking fun despite it all.
And the tea, and the shade, honey, we could go all night dragging a bitch. Simpler, maybe not kinder lol
Scissor Sister's - Let's Have A Kiki
I was going to go with MCR, but you did, so I went a different way. So technically, my blathering is your fault.Day 7: A song that makes you feel energized.

Oh I fucking love this song! Great postDay 7: A song that makes you feel energized
Energized. That can go so many ways. And yes, I am going in a weird one. You can get energized with positivity. This is not that song. And you can get energized with darker energy. Songs of anger and pain, where someone or something has hurt you and you are going to explain why. I am a MCR fan, and this is their playground -- a lot. And there can be a lot of energy there. And while the opening lines ("The boy I love has another girl/he could be fucking her right now"), could look like this is going that direction, this is not that song either.
This song is about pain. There is a phrase bandied about, "I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all." And in that, they usually mean they would rather be with a person who causes emotional pain than not be with them. This is not that song either. It isn't that simple.
Meet Kristine Meredith Flaherty, who performs as K.Flay. I have spoken of her before, in a much more lighthearted song. She is a rapper, musician, and singer, and while her voice isn't everyone's cuppa, to me, she can sing pain unlike almost anyone. And this song is about pain. Not feeling pain -- it is beyond that. It is about feeling so much pain that you need to feel something else. Not love -- she is in love, so anything else would not be real. But she needs anything else, anything strong enough to fill the silence in the room. It can be performing ("I need noise/I need the buzz of a sub"), or something more...visceral. "Take my arm, break it in half," she begs. "Need the crack of a whip/Need some blood in the cut." Anything to fill the empty room. It isn't a healthy wish -- exactly the opposite. But art doesn't need to have healthy answers. And this one doesn't have a single answer.
Driving this is the bass line, ticking away like Time's metronome, like the merciless tick of the clock at three am when you wake up with all of your fears and pains and memories for company. It is relentless, and powers the song forward. It is unhealthy. It is dark, raw energy. It is "Blood in the Cut."
"Blood in the Cut," K.Flay.
Thank you for this I really appreciate itI know that I just finished saying there were so many good posts today that I would just express my gratitude as a catch-all "thank you"... but I have to comment on your deeply moving post. First of all, I luv this song! Luv, luv, luv, this song (which was definitely played in my house a lot)... luv the artist, album, and song! But I was really moved by that incredible lyrical excerpt 'after' reading your story... damn. Thank you!
And this 'thank you' extends far beyond today's post. I really love what you have been doing all month! Beautiful...
I refuse to accept this responsibilityI was going to go with MCR, but you did, so I went a different way. So technically, my blathering is your fault.
I was hoping someone would post this song.
