Day 19: A song from the 80's

There was a back-and-forth about Marvin Gaye and Barry White yesterday, but I'd like to enter a third voice in the running for Hottest Voice.
Mark Knopfler. He sets my heart aflutter and sends my mind awandering. The way he makes gentle love with his Schecter Strat is just, whew..

Oh, to be strait for a day..

Dire Straits - Tunnel of Love

+1 Sexy song, +1 Kiss, +1 Sex, = 8

Day 20: A song from the 80's

R.E.M. - You Are The Everything

Not sure of the kissing/sexual content. but what yearning!
This is a song for the wee small hours, when the heat of the day still lingers in summer and you are either with THAT person, or thinking of them. I'm not even sure the song is abut a person or the world or... whatever, in true r.e.m. style
But, remember, you alone, you are the everything

If I Was Your Girlfriend - Prince 1987

This song... This video... *deep breath* Holyshitwhatagoddamnsexytalent! R.I.P. Prince

He wanted to put out an entire album titled Camille as Camille,

(which was him, his perfect falsetto voice tweaked to sound more androgynous) and not let anyone know it was him, but it was scrapped and the tracks went to his Sign o' the Times album and other albums.

Apparently it will be released... someday.

We don't have to make children to make love
And we don't have to make love to have an orgasm

Please listen to the longer 2020 remaster of it to get these lyrics:

And would you, would you let me kiss you there
You know, down there where it counts
I'll do it so good, I swear I'll drink every ounce

+1 sexy song
+1 mention of kiss
+1 mention of something kinky
+1 use of the word sex or a euphemism for it.

Total so far: 10

Excellent song choice!

Day 20: a song from the 80's

This was released in their 1983 debut album, but my friends and I didn’t discover them until senior year of high school 85/86, where we made up for lost time and saw them 4 times including once from our own private box at Carnegie hall.

While not written as a particularly sexy song, the fact that we played it often and sang along at the tops of our lungs, and every time I could confess my desires to my friends girlfriend (who I was deeply in love with) without risk of a fight or breakdown in social order made this a pretty sexy song for me.

+1 for sexy
+1 for kiss
+1 for kink (Gordon Gano sure did shout out Momma a lot while he was in that girl’s thighs
+1 for fuck

Day 20: a song from the 80's

After I posted my sexy song for yesterday, I thought of this one and was really hoping it was 80s, not 70s. Thank goodness! This song is so hot.

Bruce Springsteen - I’m On Fire

“ can he do to you the things that I do?”

One of my favorite Springsteen lines

Day 20-A song from the 80s

"Talk Dirty to Me," Romeo Void (1981)
+1 Sexy
+1 Kinky (public sex, dirty talk)
+1 Kiss
+1 use of the word sex or a euphemism for it. ("I can make use of your body")

They never got the love they deserved. Coming out of the San Francisco punk world in a time when New Wave was taking over the air one keyboard riff at a time, Romeo Void was instead anchored by Debora Iyall's vocals and Benjamin Bossi's sax. They should have hit big. They had a great name, solid lyrics that were both frank and playful, a sound that was a mix of punk and funk, and Iyall was a revelation. She had a big voice, able to go from sexy to sardonic, impassioned to indifferent, turning on a dime, and as the band's lyricist, she owned her sexuality. Her most famous lyrics were "I might like you better if we slept together. But there something in your eyes that says maybe that's never. Never say never!" In a time of "just say no," it was refreshing. But it was an era of female singers being Pat Benatar clones, and their label didn't know what do to with a Native American (Cowlitz neechie, represent!) who wasn't rail thin, and the band got no support, despite a pair of moderate hits. In fact, the label cut support mid-tour, and the band imploded. Iyall tried a solo career that didn't get off the ground before returning to art, and Bossi died in 2022.

This song was never a hit, but it was awesome.

Fucking A. Listening to this song as an adult hits so much harder. It captures a very specific feeling perfectly
