❌Monthly Song Challenge: Archived🎵

At first glance… some of these are questionable.

Subject to audit later when I am awake.
I was very tired and feeling figurative. I am more than willing to be firmly...audited.

I have self audited to remove skin and swarm, as one has been previously ruled and the other was stretching the metaphor. A lot. Even for me. Is there anything else you find questionable?

Day 24: A song from the 60s
Oh boy, here we go. Okay. 1963 - Allan Sherman, "Hello Mudduh, Hello Fadduh!"
+1 for being Jewish
+1 for fire or ice ("it stopped hailing")
+1 for wild beasts (alligators, bears)

Can I get a ruling on the following?
"He developed poison ivy" as that trends closely (I think) to the skin diseases of the plagues
Or I might claim the +1 for skin for the line, "You remember Leonard Skinard," but that seems a bit technical.

Yes +1 for the poison ivy. That’s precisely on theme. If I had thought there would be any songs with skin blemishes in them I would have made it that instead. The “skinard” would have been a no though 😂

You gave yourself a point for death and murder. There is only murder. No death points.

Side note… I literally had typed up “no bloody Jesus songs please” but then I erased it because I was like surely no one will be going for that anyway 🤪
Haha, well, that’s on me.

Too slow! Yoinked that last page 😁
Don't know the ruling about repeats, but if it's okay, then I'll argue that "ten thousand people, maybe more" warrants a +1 from Swarm!
Repeats are fine! Tricky here since there are points at stake but clearly she didn’t see it and wasn’t trying to ride on your points coattails.
And yes I agree with the +1 for swarm

Day 24 - A song from the 60’s
Dylan Highway 61 revisited

Jewish +1
Murder +1
Blood +1
Skin +1
Darkness (implied) +1

Five points for me

I’m not gonna lie… I’m impressed. This has been audited and approved

It was supposed to be "dark," not "death," which means my spell check is actually darker and more depressed than I am.
:) It is in the first verse. I edited that before your audit, but I can deduct the point if that violates the rules.

I wasn't planning a "bloody Jesus song," as I was focused on Jewish artists, and I had forgotten Ochs had done that one until looking over the album. But as I said, he was using it as a larger, anti-corporate, anti-war metaphor, so I went with it.

1860s? If so...

Dance Medley

if 1960s...
Nancy Sinatra - These Boots are Made for Walking
Either, but not both. There is a strict one song rule here (see below). This is your kind warning 💛
✨One. Song. Per. Day.✨
This is pretty much the only rule, so I’ll ask that you please follow it, or risk public ridicule.
This includes listing your second choice song.

Bonus points!
April Decades Week

Remember. THIS IS FOR FUN. If it’s not fun for you, carry on business as usual and post whatever song you want for that decade.

It’s Passover! This month’s bonus points will be ten plagues themed.
+1 for Jewish artist
+1 for lyrical mention of each of the following:
  • Blood
  • Frogs
  • Bugs
  • Wild beasts
  • Livestock
  • Skin
  • Fire or ice
  • Swarm
  • Darkness
  • Murder
Feel free to get creative with it as long as you explain yourself. For instance, Kelis’ Milkshake bringing all the boys to the yard could get a +1 for swarm.

This is also posted on the first page, second post, for reference throughout the week
I'm suddenly wishing Metallica had written Creeping Death 20 years earlier
