❌Monthly Song Challenge: Archived🎵

(+2 for two women. Total of 10.)

Have you ever found a band so good, so completely you, that you spend an evening on the couch with your headphones and have your SO bring you hot coco on a timer, just so you won't have to move and risk ruining the moment?

And have you then found out that this lovely, perfect, amazing and wonderful band, hasn't put a record out in a decade, and that there's just... nothing more? It was just a fling. A flirt with music. 2 EP's and then they were gone.

First love, and sudden heartbreak, all in the span of a few hours.
Where did you go? What did we do?
Please, come back.
You fit me like an old jacket.

To the only boy who has ever broken my heart; I miss you.

BOY - Hit My Heart

And now you have passed the heartbreak along. That was lovely. I have a few of those "one (or so) and done" bands, and I always wonder what they are doing now.

Day 6: A song that mentions a body part

If only there were bonus points for additional body points.

+1 for an incredibly sexy female performer. And a tune that just makes you want to dance. Running total of 12 points.

Imelda May - Inside out.

Eyes, lips, bones, chin, skin, nails, entrails, little mole, arms, wobbly bits.

Day 6: A song that mentions a body part
So, this is the song in my mind.

But, not for the reason one might expect.

See, one night my late wife and I were apart and talking on the phone. And this song came on the radio. I used to be able to sing pretty good, and she really enjoyed it when I would. So, I started singing to her.

Now, at about the same time this one was popular, there was another totally unrelated song that was popular too.

There is absolutely nothing in common between the two! Nothing!

Yet, for some reason that has totally escaped me for decades, I belted out;

"So, now I run to you with broken arms!"

For the rest of her time on this earth, I would occassionally belt out that line while running toward her with arms flopping.

*sigh* And still only 2 pts with an attendance of 6/31

Day 6: A song that mentions a body part

"Both Hands," Ani DiFranco (+1/+5)

This one keeps coming back, so I listen. This was the first song on her first album, which is just absolutely amazing. On most of Ani's work, I like the live version better, but the studio version is so raw. It also has one of the greatest lyrics I have ever read:

Oh, no don't close your eyes
I am writing
Graffiti on your body
I am drawing the story of
How hard we tried...

That is a short story in five lines, with love, pain, sensuality, and regret. I look at that and think, "I will never write a sentence that good, ever." In love, not in envy.

And I am using my dedication, to @morelikeasong, because she likes this one.

(10 +5 for dedication, though honestly, I could forgo it for this and dedicate something else =15)

Oh, it’s true. I adore this song.
The whole thing. The chorus, like you said, perfect.

Plus this part-
“And I'm recording our history now on the bedroom wall
And when we leave the landlord will come and paint over it all”

Love it. Thanks for the dedication 🥰

Noooo why must you do this to me? It brings me no pleasure to disqualify you from the points challenge.

Love the story but ONE SONG ONLY
