A VERY early Pointer Sisters songDay 27: Your favorite children’s song
Karen was one of a kindDay 27: Your favorite children's song

Close second but I wasn't wasting my reward yet...Day 27: Your favorite children’s song
I’ve gotta go with the GOAT of children’s music. Truly the best. Warm fuzzies any time I hear his voice.
Raffi - Baby Beluga
Just clarifying so there’s no funny business laterDay 27: @morelikeasong I'll take option 1, please. Need some cheering up, and boobs never fail.![]()
Correct. These past couple of days have out me in a tailspin. I'm sorry for the mix up.Just clarifying so there’s no funny business later, you want option 2, boobs, right?
Option 1 was the second song pass
There’s no option to send you a PM so send me one and I’ll respond with the link!Correct. These past couple of days have out me in a tailspin. I'm sorry for the mix up.
In my, not insignificant experience, pretentiousness is its own reward.9 seems like it would deserve at least one boob. Or maybe just some cleavage.
This was choice 1.1 for me! I just like Shel’s voice and that made the cut.Day 27: Your Favorite Children’s Song
Some fifty years ago, when I was finally old enough to use the turntable on my parents console hi-fi, there weren’t many options in their record collection for a 5 year old. But there was one song on an Irish Rovers album that I would listen to over and over again. Fast forward to my early twenties and friends took my then gf and I to an Irish pub to see a regular performer there, and he did THAT song. As a participation song. With arm/hand gestures. To a room full of drunks. And it was awesome. Fast forward a few more years, and I’m singing/acting out the song to my own kids. And it was always awesome.
I give you Shel Silverstein’s ‘The Unicorn’performed by my favorite Seamus Kennedy. Go ahead. Try to keep up with the arm gestures.
Shel also recorded this song before the rovers did. This was choice 1.1 for me! I just like Shel’s voice and that made the cut.
He did! Wait I think I knew that but the Irish Rovers one is the one I had on an album and always default too.Shel also recorded this song before the rovers did.
That’s awesome! Great song too.Day 27: Your Favorite Children’s Song

Day 27: Your favorite children's song
When I saw this prompt this morning I had a pretty good idea of my top couple of choices. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go back and listen to them because they all are associated with singing in the car with my dad, who hasn't been in my life in a real way in more than 7 years, and no contact for a few years now. It's hard holding space for the happy memories of him that I have as a kid alongside the memories of him becoming a different person as I grew up. It's even harder to listen to music that he loved playing for us because music memory associations are so strong, like many others have clearly shown. But at the end of the day, god I love this song. We would listen to it when we left for the zoo and when we were leaving for the day, and sometimes we'd listen to it when we'd go to an amusement park because it was just as fun to sing then. The last time I've been to a zoo was with my him when I was still trying to repair our relationship, which i realized as I was sharing all of this. Leaning into the happy memories, though. (I also wasn't sure if I really wanted to be vulnerable about any of that)
