I assumed this was a 70s song for most of my life. And I suppose it may well have been written in the 70s but it was released in 1980 so that's that.

In high school, I had a relationship that absolutely mirrored this song. It was as if I found a soundtrack to a very specific time. Spoiler: we never found a way to break through it. And I still love her to this day. (+2)

The only bad thing I have to say about maiden, is that i wish they'd play more Virtual XI/X Factor songs with Bruce singing. He did Lord of the Flies once and it was legendary!!

I was in second grade. So maybe 73-74 ish?

I don’t have it in committed to memory anymore but it was something like this:

Some trees have bumpy skin
And some trees are smooth
Some have white bark and some
Are brown or dark

And I remember the last line sort of rhymed and I wrote out “la la la la la la.” Or maybe it was fa fa fa fa fa.”

Anyway, it was horrible!!
