❌Monthly Song Challenge: Archived🎵

Most of my cousins are girls, and I clearly remember us blasting Tiffany (and Cyndi Lauper) on cassettes growing up...
But I'm going to blame the girls... it was for 'them', not for me! Okay, fine... I really enjoyed it, too.
its ok. This is a safe place. I used to pretend to hate NKOTB but would then watch a VHS of one of their concerts with my friend over and over. I could’ve been disowned for that 😂

Day 1: A song from one of the first albums you owned

As a child I was absolutely enthralled by songwriters who were great storytellers. This album did not disappoint...

Bruce Springsteen - Lost in the Flood
(from the album 'Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.')

This is a heavy choice for a little one! Whoa!

Oh, there's no way that I could've understood what any of this stuff was really about... lol.
But I was intensely drawn to it. Absolutely!

Plus, I was a bit "heavy" (good word for it) as a kid...
My folks said that I've always been exactly the same... so as a kid everyone thought, 'you need to lighten up'... and as an adult everyone thought, 'you need to grow up'... lol. But as Joni once sang, 'I am as constant as a northern star.'

But no, there's no way that youthful me really "understood" the albums that I owned.

One of the beautiful things about good art you can be drawn to it for reasons you only really understand years later. And then appreciate it all over again.

Day 2: A song you want to be covered by a different genre
I have been dying for a punk cover of this song for a looong time. Preferably by Rancid. Tim and Lars could trade off verses.

Alabama "I'm In A Hurry (And Don't Know Why)"

Day 2: A song you want to be covered by a different genre

This one is hard, not because I don't understand the assignment, because this is one if my favorite things to think about... and now I have to choose ONE!!!

I absolutely love it when fast paced songs are slowed down and played acoustically. I also love it when heavy metal songs are covered by country artists and vice versa. Notice how I'm not mentioning multiple songs? I can be vague.

I really love this song just the way it is, but I wonder what it would sound like slowed down and covered by a bluegrass band or maybe even just acoustic.
