Day 4: A song off an album with a great cover

I have always been enamored with the cover of Bright Eyes' Fevers and Mirrors. It isn't the most complex album cover, with a mirror in a gold frame on a red and brown wallpapered wall, but it is evocative, and sort of a Rorschach test. I have it in on vinyl, and the mirror on the original cover is an actual reflective mirror. You can see your image perfectly clearly even 25 years later, but only if you get close.

I think Conor Oberst is a damaged genius, a broken-hearted bard and melancholic poet, and this is the finest thing he ever wrote. At times, it seems only something that could be written by a 19-year-old, but I saw him sing this live earlier this year, and it was as genuine --if even wearier-- than when I first heard it.

"Now and again it seems worse than it is
But mostly the view is accurate"

"Something Vague," Bright Eyes.

Day 5: A comedy/parody song

R. Kelly is a monster. Weird Al is a genius. I have never listened to the original, but oh how I have lived out the parody. So many times...

"Trapped In the Drive-Thru (Parody of 'Trapped In The Closet' by R. Kelly)," Weird Al Yankovic

Day 5:A comedy/ parody song

So many places to go with this one. But I’ll keep it local with a great take off of the Cure’s Boys Don’t Cry, ska style of course.

These guys (and Vision) played my divorce party!

Day 5: A comedy/parody song

“In slang, "gnarly" is a versatile term with multiple meanings, often used to describe something extreme, whether positive or negative. It can mean excellent, cool, or even dangerous/difficult. In more specific contexts, it can also describe something disgusting, nasty, or rough.”

Gnarly - KATSEYE

The fact this is even a current discussion as to whether this is a satirical song or not PROVES it’s satire! 😜

Day 5: A comedy/ parody song

I have a confession to make, I don't really understand why Death Becomes Her is a cult classic. Maybe I need to rewatch it. However I'm slightly obsessed with the musical. It's fabulous and so funny. I love Megan Hilty 😻
Tell Me, Ernest - Megan Hilty, Jennifer Simard, Christopher Sieber
