Day 6: A song that transports you to another place and time.
This prompt gave me too many options and I had a tough time choosing. I settled on a song that was a big part of my time in college and makes me think of some great times with some great friends.

FYC - Johnny Come Home

Has there ever been anyone as cool as Roland Gift?

Day 8: A song that is really good live (based on your experience)

Back in 2012 I went to London to catch Walk off the Earth live. Couldn't convince anyone to go with me, so I went alone. That's fine, had a pleasant weekend strolling around up to the Heath and took a boat through Regent's Canal.

At the show, before the opening act came on, I heard a voice behind me go "Yeah like you'd ever find a Swede here", so I turned around and piped up "I'm swedish!"
"Yeah right."
"I am!"
"På riktigt?" for real?
"Japp!" yep!
That was the start of a tumultuous friendship - a story for another day.

A bit of bonding later, it was time for the opening act. USS, Ubiquitous Synergy Seekers, which I'd never heard of before. They were a duo that fused Drum n' Base with Grunge, a unique mix to say the least. One guy singing/playing acoustic guitar, but the other dude.... A DJ/turntabler and bona fide hypeman. And holy fuck was he good at his job. Flipping around, somersaulting, headstands at the turntable (check the video at 1:45!) and scratching with his feet. He was a condensed ball of energy. Me and my new friends danced non stop for an hour through their set - to this day the best opening act I've ever seen. The audience was on fire when it was time for the headliners!

USS - Yo Hello Hooray!

Day 8: A song that is really good live (based on your experience)

I went to Rockville in 2018 for the Sunday performance and it was spectacular. It is an all day event and was hotter than hell, but an experience I won't ever forget. I went with my brother and we had planned on camping out in front of the Foo Fighter's stage until they played that night... lol. That didn't work.

About three hours in Billy Idol took the stage. He would later perform with the Foo Fighters which was fantastic, but I got to see him perform a favorite of mine. I was about twelve feet away from the 63 year old who was wearing all black with skeleton bones stitched on his jeans.

Even though the song talks about dancing with myself, I ended up dancing with a woman my age who was just as thrilled to see Billy Idol as I was in a throng of hundreds of people. We knew every word and sang it at the top of our lungs.

Day 8: A song that is really good live (based on your experience)
Springtime in New England. Joint passed between friends. Twilight. Feet in the grass. Eyes closed. A gentle breeze blowing my hair. Everything in its right place.

Radiohead - Everything In Its Right Place

(this is not the specific show I saw, but it’s a much better recording)

Day 8: A song that is really good live (based on your experience)

I'm going to a concert tonight so maybe I would've had a different song were I to wait until the end of the day but I don't even know what patience is. Josh has a beautiful voice live but unfortunately there was no Andrea Corr when I saw him (it was being recorded for an album/special so I was kind of hoping) ergo I'll post the studio version. I usually don't like live recordings anyway.

Josh Groban - Canto Alla Vita (featuring The Corrs)
