Day 16 - A song you recently added to a playlist

I've been told my playlist setup is quite odd. When I like a band, I take all their albums, singles, live plays, and dump them in a playlist named Bandname. That way I have everything they've done in one place, and I can binge-listen! None of my playlists contain stuff from multiple different bands - when I want to listen to a band I want to listen to only that band.

Does anyone else do this?

Anyway, Spotify has a "liked songs" list. I don't activaly listen to the list, but I do press the like-button on songs I find particularly great. A little badge of honor for my favorites. Makes them easy to find! Here's the latest song that earned a medal;

Tegan and Sara - Please Help Me

I have done that before when you just discover a new artist and get obsessed.

What do you do after you've gotten to know them? Split the playlist up? Order by... bpm? Feeling? I'm genuinely curious!
I cherry pick my faves and put them in a playlist with other songs that kind of fit with them.

I have so many playlists... aaaaagh. My favorite one is titled, "what is this even?"

I will listen to one song on a continuous loop as well... Some may call that crazy.

Not crazy at all! Here's a tip in case anyone doesn't know; if you want to loop a youtube video, just replace the word "youtube" in the URL with "listenonrepeat"!

And you have a potpurri of songs then! I wonder what's in the deepest darkest reaches of those things. Sometimes it's fun to go spelunking.

I do this for my favorite singers and bands besides my more traditional playlists. It's harder to do one for a newer artist cos I need that grouping of four covers for the playlist photo lol. I whittle it down sometimes to take out skips but otherwise I just put it on shuffle and I'm good to go.

Day 14: A song by an artist who has grown on you over time.

In college, there was a great bar/music venue in town that was usually good for a night of beers and good music. I always got disappointed when I’d get there and the sign out front said “Tonight: Dave Matthews Band”.

They’ve grown on me, but only in small doses.

I was obsessed with this song, now more so with the video. Warning, a tad graphic.

A fantastic addition to my ‘80s cover playlist.

Ice Nine Kills x Reel Big Fish : Walking on sunshine

Why did I think the original was from the early 90s 😣 I'm usually pretty good at hearing the decade 😭

That song was overplayed when it came out but what an earworm and those lyrics:

You've got your ball
You've got your chain
Tied to me tight, tie me up again
Who's got their claws
In you my friend
Into your heart I'll beat again

Day 16: A song that you recently added to a playlist
I rarely create playlists. Usually I just have Alexa or Google play whatever I'm in the mood to listen to. Here's a song I recently listened to. I took my daughter to see Melanie Martinez last month and this artist opened up for her. Very talented and such a cool vibe.

I will do band specific playlists as well, or filters offline lists. I will also do by genre, which can get so granular, by mood, or by action ("boxing" for workouts, or "writing - (fill in the need)" when going that way).

And I am old, so I have a couple of USB drives with music that I use in my car. Some by theme, but one with three thousand or so songs that I just either filter or let play.

Day 16: A song that you recently added to a playlist

I was running a rabbit trail of post-punk-pop and found this acoustic version, and I like it far better than the original. I always was a fan of Taking Back Sunday, I have been enjoying The Maine for about a year, and I hadn't heard of Charlotte Sands before, so it was a nice trifecta, with the addition of a new artist to look into. I love the interplay, and the complexity of the differing lyrical lines, which comes off much better to me played acoustically.

So yeah, added!

"Loved You A Little (Acoustic version)," The Maine, featuring Taking Back Sunday & Charlotte Sands
