❌Monthly Song Challenge: Archived🎵

I just want to say thank you to everyone who participates in this thread, regularly or occasionally.

To clarify, I do not plan to move this thread off lit. I don’t think it’s really suited to other platforms. Plus, I like it here. As long as YouTube links are still allowed/embedded, we’ll keep doing our thing. If there comes a time when they boot YouTube as well… I suppose we’ll cross that bridge when/if we come to it.

If you would like to earn a second song pass this month: please send me 5 prompt suggestions. They don’t have to be novel, they can be repeats of prompts you like. Your participation in prompt creation is very helpful to keeping this thing going.
(Please reply directly to this message with the suggestions, post them in my Palace thread, or send via PM. I don’t always get tag notifications. Thanks!)

I was indeed looking around for this thread, or a version of it, in that place but was rather happy when I didn't find it. Lit forums are perfect. Thanks for keeping it up 💕

1) A non-english song (this is my fave! Seeing everyone dig deep is awesome.)
2) A song for introducing someone to a non-mainstream genre.
3) A song with No Chorus (like Bohemian Rhapsody, but not Bohemian Rhapsody).
4) A song featuring real, or mimicked, animal sounds.
5) Plot Twist! A song that changes genre part-way through!

1. A song that reminds you of a really good day
2. A song that makes you dance
3. A song that would come first on your party playlist
4. A song in a language you don't understand
5. A one time extension of decades week to include the 30s, 40s, and 50s so I guess that's seven potential prompts for the price of five if you were to do one day per decade 😁

You tryna get a third song pass or sumthin?

Day 26: A song you like with a weekday in the title

I remember listening to this on the radio as a kid. It made it to 28 on the American Top 40 (I membered it after hearing it on a retro American Top 40), but it never gets mentioned much, as it is a light weight little ditty, but it isn't quite a novelty song. It is very much of its time, musically -- did every song had soaring strings in the 70s? But it really does hit the chaos of a big family on the weekend.

Things I didn't get as a kid, but do now:

" I can hear my wife yelling, 'take 'em all to the show'
I'll take the whole neighborhood to the show
I'll just walk out in back where the money tree grows
Grab me a handful and off to the show we'll go"

(Sorry, Mom, for inviting everyone).

Also, neighbors borrowing things:

"Day is done, cousin Jack
In his yard, cooking steaks on a grill that I'll never get back"

But mostly this:

"Cause I work all week long, to keep strong til they're grown"

That is good parenting -- what my mom did, and I learned it from her. That is a lot of wisdom in a goofy little song.

"Saturday Morning Confusion," Bobby Russel

Yay! Not that it matters, but for me, this thread is the heart of Lit.

Oh! I like this! I may have notes about from my week...

1) Least favorite song on most favorite album.
2) A song not released as a single.
3) A song that taught you something
4) Baseball has "walk up" music, played when a batter or new pitcher comes out. What would be your "walk up" song?
4) Song with your favorite opening guitar riff.
