Oh lol not me! But this was 🥰 woof

And this was satire lol 🫣 I really do miss writing 🫢
It was very convincing satire. Luckily, I did read the small print, so you didn't catch me out ;) . You certainly know how to write a persuasive bluff though. You so should have been a panelist on Call My Bluff. Your picture, meanwhile, is seriously seductive  .

Oh wow I actually know the answer for this!

In the late 90s/early 2000s, some mid-range hotels in North America were trying to cater to the growing “pet-friendly” travel trend.

They didn’t yet have kennels or in-room crates, so they put what they called “courtesy tethers” (basically fake knobs or short posts near the doorframe). Guests who needed accommodations were told they could clip or tie the leash there inside the room if they had to step out briefly.

It seemed harmless at first, but staff started reporting problems: startled pets bolting out the door during housekeeping, little paws getting injured, or guests coming back to find their very frazzled friend. It was a liability nightmare and the practice quietly faded out by 2010.

So if you see a random doorknob or hook in an older pet friendly hotel, that’s probably what it’s from. Even cat-people were writing letters about it at the time 🙄
this is satire 👀
I love this post from top to bottom.

What would be the bait in a trap for you?

When does it become irrelevant that someone had a difficult home life growing up? Does it ever? Is it always something to consider when assessing whether someone is acting unfairly?

IMG_9779.jpeg

Or a dog. Or a wolf. Or a bird.

IMG_9798.png

Yup. Let’s see how they act if you don’t do what they want you to do. Still saying all those sweet things?

Not just girls — but how do you feel when you just sit back and lurk a bit on Lit? What do you notice? Does anything surprise you? Does anything make you happy or sad?

This was such a breath of fresh air. Having a real conversation about a topic that we had different views on, but … there was no argument! Imagine that! It was lovely and enlightening and I still may not agree but I u fees told another point of view more. 💛

What would be the bait in a trap for you?
Ok I’m responding to myself 🤣

I’m going to say it and risk upsetting someone because I know that people have strong opinions about this movie but … I’m not a fan of Hocus Pocus. I love all three actresses. I love Halloween. I love campy silly things. But…I do not love this movie. So, this would not be in a trap for me.

Replace it with Blair Witch or The Changeling— a real spooky ghost story. Not gory really, but scary- yes that would be in a trap for me.

I appreciate the Halloween books. I would switch them to The Historian, Nosferatu, Frankenstein (although that is actually very sad), The House on Haunted Hill, We Have Never Lived in the Castle, those would get me.

As far as candy goes: I … I… I like candy corn! There I said it. I do. I also like Twix and M&Ms. and sour patch kids.

I would Double Heart React to this if I could.
The Changling is a GREAT ghost movie!
Candy Corn AND not liking Hocus Pocus? Are you trying to make me aroused? 😛

What would be the bait in a trap for you?
So, to me, the criteria has to be items that all relate to a specific theme. For me, a very tempting theme is Scotland. The bait in my trap would be bottles of single malt Scotch and Scottish gin, millionaire's shortbread, a cute Highland cow stuffie, thistle decorations, Old Blind Dogs and Silly Wizard CDs, Rob Roy and Outlander DVDs, and some tartan.

Love this.

I don't know that it ever becomes completely irrelevant, but that doesn't mean that resulting behavior has to be accepted. Violent or abusive behavior is never acceptable. But someone's family history and past trauma has to be considered, I think, when it comes down to trying to help someone change unacceptable behavior. And that can mean behavior that is damaging towards others or towards themselves.

Sounds about right. If our building didn't have a "No dragons" policy, I'd be in trouble.

I get this. I often feel like I don't know how to join in.
I don't know if I truly lurk. I will usually react to posts... I don't know if that counts. But if I feel like someone has already expressed my thoughts in a reply, I usually refrain from posting just to repeat those thoughts.
I don't think I notice anything different in the times when I am less active versus more active. The things that make me happy or sad here reflect those that make me happy or sad in general. I love to see when bodies of different ages and sizes are all appreciated. And when people are supportive of each other while still being open to discussion and different ideas. It makes me sad when people are clearly hurting.

While this definitely applies to conversations around topics when people hold different views, I also see it apply when a person gives feedback to someone else about their behavior. Just because I address something that makes me uncomfortable or uncertain, it doesn't mean that I am criticizing you as a person or saying that you are doing something wrong. I'm not trying to argue. I'm just trying to talk about a situation and get clarity for both of us. I might be misunderstanding something. My interpretation of your actions or words might be off. I might have done something to bother you that I'm not aware of. I know it's easy to feel defensive because I can struggle with that myself. But please, just talk it out with me.

The Blair Witch is an all time favorite. I get that watching it now for the first time is t the same, but I’ll die on its hill.

Just rewatched The Others and plan on What Lies Beneath (criterion channel FTW). The Others is so frikken good and creepy. Hopefully WLB holds up as well.

idk, will work for beer

As an adult, we all have the opportunity to adult and grow ourselves beyond a crappy childhood. Somewhere in between "As soon as possible and better late than never"
Does it ever? Is it always something to consider when assessing whether someone is acting unfairly?
Life is too short. Don't be a doormat. Your friends and family will remain friends and family even if you call them out. So will your enemies.
Or a dog. Or a wolf. Or a bird.
or a dragonfly

Good question. At what point does a person think well, sweet nothings are falling on deaf ears? Might as well not say them even if you wanna. I always liked to be sweet, write poetry etc. My spouse used to like that stuff when we were new. Now, she looks at me like I just grew a potato out the side of my head, shrugs, and goes on with her day. If love is eternal, and I want to express it- I guess, then maybe its more about me being expressive. Idk anymore. And she aint sayin so, meh. I have learned, action, almost always is louder than words. Words are pretty. But doing something means more. Just some random thoughts. Anyway, next.

Like I wanna post something somewhere
What do you notice?
Most people visit with who they are familiar with and visit with often. People want attention and troll hard for it. Some are truly hungry for sex and that's why they are here. Some are truly ignorant. Some people are quite comfortable being quiet posters. I am intrigued by them
Does anything surprise you?
No
Does anything make you happy or sad?
I am saddened by some of the back stories of people and how they came to be here- how Lit is a sort of escape for them from their troubles in their part of the world. I am happy when boobs appear in my inbox. Its like someone just sent me flowers. 🥰

Weird how people get butthurt when its really just some conversational dialogue or minor debate. Nothing earth shattering. I like how that gives me insight into that person. I find I appreciate them more if we can have this sort of conversation and still remain friends or friendly.

Your last meme, Maybe true in many cases. Some things though, might not be forgivable. Some of the things I've heard from people. 😱

You can ask, but can I articulate?
Join in group social activities and conversations with people I don’t know well. I wish that came easier to me.
But joining in on Lit is incredibly hard. It's totally different from meeting a bunch of people in person. Lit doesn't allow for the kind of social lubrication we take for granted every day offline.

I've barged straight in here and asked you quite a personal question straight off the bat - which you've very kindly answered. We'd never start a conversation like that if you and I were ever to meet in person. Unimaginative though it may be, we'd probably kick off with something like "Hello."

There aren't any Hello threads on Lit. Weird when you think about it, isn't it?
