You forgot the "I don't care" option. :p
exactly what I was thinking..... I know soccer is the most popular sport in the world, but I just don't get it.

where's the rolling on the floor, heels kicking, side splitting laughing smilie?

There is no way the US wins the World Cup in 2010 or any time before all the ice melts and we're all playing waterpolo.

You brightened my day tho' G_S :D

Well, see...It's like this.

GS is English. I'm American. One day, we were discussing sports. The topic of soccer came up. We ribbed each other a bit about it and then, as a kind of joke, this thread was started.

If you don't get it, or don't care, that's fine. Not everyone will and I'm ok with that. :)

Heh - its not everyones liking moon, just some of us like to have fun here rather than posting an outside opinion - the question was, will they ever win, not will you ever get it

USA 3 - England 0

Seems I got some humble pie to eat and I am gagging at the first spoonful :(

What I have just witnessed is wrong, in so so many ways, I cannot begin to comprehend, its like and I surely believe, I was abducted by aliens and sent to a parallel world or something.

3 - 0 ???? WTF just happened??? and in the World cup no less, but I remember that I did say the 2010 World Cup, the mens one I meant, still, charmed is going to have a field day later on, I know when I pick up the phone she is gonna gloat, big time, just like I did the other week

:D

This made me smile - BIG. :D

Gloat away Charmed. Make him eat that pie slow and often.

Sorry GS...it just did...especially after reading Denali's comments of a year ago.

edited to add, and yes, I know it was the women's team ;)

Well, well, well...what have we here? No, the year isn't 2010 and no, the ice hasn't all melted and we aren't playing waterpolo....And yet, the American women have beaten England 3-0.

Someone, not going to say who (but their initals are G_S ;) ), said it would never happen. This person also postulated that never, ever would the Americans beat the English at football or win a World cup. He said we were good, but not THAT good.

He was wrong.

Well done ladies!

Yeah, but he said 2010, so that was obviously the men. The US men's team won't win in the next two for sure. The country's big enough that, ten years from now, they COULD get competitive.

But the women ... the English women would have been last had they been in the group the US came out of in this year's world cup. They aren't close to the caliber of the US women. Frankly, the US won 3-0 without even playing all that well.

I know that he said 2010. He also said, rather it was posted here or not, that there was no way an American football team would beat an English team.

And you may be right, the US men's team may not win in two years...then again, I always cheer for the underdog so I'll keep my fingers crossed and think good thoughts that they will. :)
