Hey newbies! Just-Legal here, duly appointed Newbie Outreach Program Leader.

Nope, this thread isn't a pisstake.

Questions? Ask them here. I'll answer if I can, or refer you to someone who would know!

And *eyes certain people* there is to be NO newbie flaming here! I mean it. Don't make me get my other half to sit on you...

When is a newbie no longer considered a newbie?

Usually when they start asking intelligent questions like this, and that lil H for hot beside one of your stories is a good sign also. You need an AV now that you have over a hundred posts. If you have a pic that you want reduced I or a lot of others will be happy to fix it up for you.

Thanks! This isn't my first forum either, I'm Administration for three thriving RP communities :)

As for the "when is a newbie not a newbie" question... Usually I'd say when you hit over 100 posts. Or can answer a newbies question ;)

Cool, I've had those since I started. *smug* so I was never a newbie :D

I have a question about those though - how do they get there?

I assumed that whoever posts the story on lit gets to decide, or is it to do with the average score of a story?

Could I lose them once I have them?

Is that a newbie enough question to be included here?

Anyone??

.

The red H's icons are for stories which have received 10 or more votes from readers, and maintain an average vote of 4.5 out of 5 or better.

You can lose the red H icon if voters start voting low numbers pushing down your average score.

Please don't tell people this sort of thing... as soon as you inform a certain few that you are a good and popular author... The Trolls will search out your stories and 1 or 2 vote the lot of them out of spite or malice to scupper your H.... You need half a dozen 4 or 5 votes to recover from one 1 voting Troll.

Sorry to invade your thread JL just needed to warn the 'novices' of some of the dangers lurking here.

pops.........:D

Hi newbies :D

You're in good hands here. :rose:

Just-Legal, this is serious, I need help!!!!!!!!

I may not be a really new newbie, but I need help. Its a couple of things.

First, I got paid for a story, HOORAY, and all. I didn't believe it till I got the check. It wasn't much and together with the membership they gave me it was under 50 bucks but I am still happy. Now the first question.
All I gave them was a statement saying I, wheteverthefuc my name is, wrote this story. And I give, whateverthefuc their name is, permission to post it. ------ Now, I wrote this story to post on Lit. when they said they were interested in anything I did and I just said here, do ya like this. Can I still post it on Lit? Do I have to ask the Lit site people if o.k.? Do I have to ask the other site people if o.k.? The statement just said I wrote it and gave them permission to post it.

Second question.
I know its frowned upon to put personal links to personal stuff. I agree with what somebody said not long ago. "In the AH its just friends sharing stuff with each other" and I like looking at those, so its probably not breaking the rules but being friends. Is it against the rules to put a personal link to something in a thread post? Like if we were talking about something and I said hey, go look at my stuff Here.
I wouldn't want to do that on somebodies thread if it was against the rules but is it? I mean everybody puts links to funny stuff and news stories. Is a personal link IN A POST against the rules?

I hope you can answer these questions cause when I looked it covered everything around these questions, but not these specifically. I would appreciate anything you can find out. Lisa.

First Question: Check with who's paying you first! They may want first dibs. Generally, I think the rule on Lit is it can't be posted anywhere else, but drop Laurel a PM to confirm. Is it in print or on the Web? Because ppl might not pay to read something they can get for free on an Erotica site hon.

Second Question: This is a rather murky area. My old sig image had a link to my weblog. If you clicked the image, you went there. I think, generally, if its either within the context of the thread, ie, Sodomy, and you posted a link to say, Sodomisers Anonymous, it would be acceptable. Again, its a grey area of the rules where you'd probably have to consult Laurel, but if its a one time, "Hey, well this is relevant," it tends to be okay. Its only when you start bombing every thread with the link it becomes a problem IMHO

My last story "Kill Byll" has been pending for a few weeks now. The economy is in the dumps as a result. Use your administrative powers to save the planet.

GF

Resubmit the story. It may have got gummed up in the works! If it doesn't show after a week or two, PM Laurel to check there's not been a backlog of submissions - this can happen!

Relax! It'll be posted!

PS:

a) I sincerely doubt the economy is in the dumps because of this. I take this thread seriously and I would ask that you do too.
b) I have no administration powers here. I simply set up this forum as a means to helping people. Sarcasm and insulting attempts at humour don't help, in fact, they tend to scare talented people off. Show some restraint, please.

Is it just me, or are tomorrow's stories already up?

And how do you make that link thingy work?

Thanks!!

Hello!

First of all, it may depend on your time zone. This forum is -5 hours from GMT - The current time according to Lit is usually at the bottom of the forum screen. It may be that "tomorrow's" submissions are actually todays according to Lit Time.

To make URLS, there's an option in your posting screen that allows you to create a link - its the button with http:// on it! Alternatively, just type out the url fully, ie http://www.literotica.com and it will post it as a link for you.

Hope that helps!

Hello! Yes, its an average score thing, as has been mentioned above by other Litsers. And as Pops said, they can be "trolled" away by certain types of spiteful people who enjoy dishing out one and two votes just to see stories fail. Its sad but true. If your story has had a pretty consistent score, and suddenly it bombs, please e-mail or PM site admin - Laurel - and ask for it investigating.

Nine times out of ten the system will catch "trolls", so don't worry :)

Would you mind puttin in here that link to sodomisers anonymous?
I couldn't help, that was too funny.
O.k. we are back on topic, excuse me.

I was informed by certain non-newbie types from around here that the (un)official post count needed not to be considered a newbie is 500.

Me too. That would mean I never was a newbie either.
I'll welcome you C. You're newer than me.
But I still feel a newbie sometimes. Depends on the setting I guess.

Good idea Helen. This thread should stay on the first page.

Even better, on the advice of Kitty Mamma herself (that is Laurel, the site owner) you can report the story with a link you find at the end of each story. That gives the administration a direct link which makes it easier to find out.

But Laurel does a sweep regularly.

Thanks Lisa!

And yes, Black Tulip, I was a goober and forgot that! There is a report function.

I'd love for this to be a sticky but never mind *grins*

The when is a newbie not a newbie question is actually pretty difficult... I've been a member here for nearly four years, but I stayed away from the boards until about a year ago, so I may have had (and still have) a low post count, but I wasn't a LIT newbie.

Maybe we need two types - LIT Newbies and FORUM Newbies? *smile*
