Five weeks ago today, former Aberdeen City Councilor Riley T. Carter was convicted of three counts of rape of a child in the first degree, three counts of incest in the first degree, one count of child molestation in the first degree, and one count of incest in the second degree, by a jury of his peers in Grays Harbor County Superior Court.
On Friday, Carter was sentenced to a minimum of 46½ years in prison.

Carter, who was known for wearing a red ballcap that read “Make Pedophiles Afraid Again,” was arrested by the Aberdeen Police Department in late July 2024 and subsequently forced to resign his post as an Aberdeen City Councilor for Ward 5 a few days after his arrest. He was convicted on all eight counts on June 6.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – Fort Pierce City Commissioner James Taylor was arrested July 24 on felony charges after allegations of having an inappropriate relationship with a teen girl, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

Taylor, 38, was jailed on charges including six counts each of transmission of material harmful to a minor by electronic equipment, transfer or display of obscenity to a minor, and harmful communication to a minor; four counts of lewd computer solicitation of a child; and two counts of solicitation of transmission of child pornography by electronic device or equipment, the sheriff's office stated. All 24 counts are felonies.

Texas House Republican and state DOGE Committee Chairman Giovanni Capriglione shocked the Texas capitol Tuesday by announcing he no longer plans to run.

The about-face came just before a bombshell interview surfaced Friday with an exotic dancer who maintains she had a 17-year affair with the conservative Dallas-Fort Worth-area lawmaker, who she also alleges paid for her abortions and made disturbing sexual comments about children.

Capriglione, who frequently touts his mission to uphold "family values," disputes the claims he paid for Grace to have the procedure he was responsible for outlawing in Texas.

Grace described becoming uncomfortable when Capriglione mentioned wanting to ejaculate into batter for cookies that would be sold at his daughter's bake sale. In the video interview, Grace stated that Capriglione said he enjoyed the thought of children — particularly young girls — consuming his semen.

State Senator J. Stuart Adams had a relative charged with raping a 13-year-old—so he rewrote the state’s consent laws.

Adams successfully changed the law to allow 18-year-olds charged with child rape to be essentially tried as minors if they were enrolled in high school at the time of their crime. Adams’s family member was in high school, and since the law was also made retroactive, the 18-year-old-went from facing years in prison to accepting a plea deal for reduced charges and no jail time beyond the week he already served after his initial arrest.

I remember when I was 19 I had a real pretty neighbor who was 16. To me she was a child and way too young (age of legal consent was 16).
