A former Big Island councilman who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a child in 2000 has been hired by the Hawai'i County Planning Department.

Keola Childs, who served two terms as a Republican on the Hawai'i County Council from 1992 to 1996, spent time in jail after his conviction for knowingly subjecting a person under age 14 to "sexual penetration."

Childs, 60, is still serving his sentence for the crime.

He was sentenced to serve one year in jail, with 30 days of that sentence served each year. This year, he was ordered to serve one month in jail from Sept. 29 to Oct. 29, according to court documents. He also will be kept on probation through 2020.

Childs is a registered sex offender who is listed on the Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center Web site.

Republican benefactor of conservative Christian groups, Richard A. Dasen Sr., was charged with rape for allegedly paying a 15-year old girl for sex.
Flathead District Court Judge Heidi Ulbricht on Sept. 24 denied a request by Dick Dasen Sr., 76, for a conditional release from supervision, according to court documents. He connected with the court by telephone from where he resides in Arizona.

Dasen’s case shocked the Flathead Valley when he was arrested in February 2004 after authorities said Dasen paid women and girls for sex, that he took sexual photographs of girls under the age of 18, that he had sex with a girl under the age of consent at 15, and that he enticed poor and drug-addicted women and girls to become prostitutes with large amounts of money.

In May 2005, after a monthlong trial, a jury convicted Dasen Sr. of several offenses and he was later sentenced to 20 years, 18 suspended. He was released in May 2007 and has been on probation since then.

A member of the Republican Party, he was elected to the Oklahoma Senate in 2010, defeating several challengers in primary elections, re-elected in 2014 and served his term until 2017. During his tenure, he established a Republican consulting firm. Shortey was the state campaign chair for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.[1]

Shortey resigned in March 2017 after being charged with three felonies relating to prostitution from a male minor.[2] In September 2017, a federal grand jury in Oklahoma City charged Shortey on four counts, one of which he pleaded guilty to in November 2017, with an agreement that the others would be dropped. Jailed since his plea, Shortey was sentenced in September 2018 to 15 years in prison, to be followed by 10 years of supervised release.

A former aide to Donald Trump can proceed with her civil rape case against Trump’s longtime senior campaign advisor Jason Miller, a New York judge ruled Friday.

The lawsuit is an escalation of a yearslong and salacious feud between Miller and former MAGA attorney A.J. Delgado, who claims that she was victimized in her publicized extramarital affair with the close Trump strategist.

A Pennsylvania state senator has stepped down following his arrest on charges of possession of child pornography.

Sen. Mike Folmer submitted his letter of resignation on Wednesday to Republican colleagues in Harrisburg, according to leadership in the state chamber.

On Tuesday, police arrested Folmer at his home about an hour outside of the state capital after tracing what prosecutors say was an explicit image involving a minor to the senator's personal computer. During a search of Folmer's cellphone, investigators say they found two other suspected images of child pornography.

Ryan D. Jenks, 45, was charged with three felony counts: lewd conduct with a child under 16 and two counts of sexual abuse of a minor under 16 years of age.

Jenks, who is also a Nampa attorney, ran as the Republican candidate for the Idaho House of Representatives in 2014, losing to incumbent Democrat Ilana Rubel in the general election. Ten to Fifty Years for Libertarian candidate Matthew Schutter.
Matthew Schutter, 54, of South Whitehall Township, pleaded guilty to 10 counts each of sexual abuse of children – possession of child pornography, all third-degree felonies; and 28 counts each of sexual abuse of children – dissemination of child pornography, all second-degree felonies, according to a news release from the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office.

Judge Robert L. Steinberg sentenced Schutter Tuesday to serve 10 to 50 years in state prison, the DA's office said.

A former Washtenaw County church youth group director will now stand trial on 60 charges connected to sexual abuse after a judge added 30 more counts following testimony Tuesday.

Zachary Radcliff, 29, appeared Tuesday in a courtroom for a preliminary examination, where several young men testified against Radcliff. Following testimony, 14A District Court Judge J. Cedric Simpson added nine counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and 21 counts of child sexually abusive activity. In all, Radcliff faces 60 charges related to first-degree criminal sexual conduct, child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime.

"What I saw with them, they need to be believed, and they ought to be believed. Whether anyone does, that's maybe for the future. But I believe them. I believe everything they told this court," Simpson said.

"I don't say this lightly at all. Not how I operate my life and certainly not how I operate as a judge. But in my 25-so-plus years, I've seen a lot. This ranks up with one of the most egregious predators that I have ever seen as it regards individuals."

Police in the Twin Cities say a Minnesota Republican state senator has been arrested for allegedly trying to solicit sex from a minor.

According to Bloomington police, detectives communicated with the man, identified as 40-year-old Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids, who thought he was talking with a 16-year-old girl. Eichorn was most recently one of the authors of a bill by Minnesota Senate Republicans to define "Trump derangement syndrome" as a mental illness.

Ricci Wynne, 39, known as Raw Ricci to his more than 100,000 Instagram followers, was first arrested in November and charged with pimping and pandering by procuring, HuffPost previously reported. He was taken into custody alongside a woman shortly after arriving at San Francisco International Airport.

A New College of Florida marketing director was arrested Tuesday night for exposing his sexual organs, Manatee County officials say. The incident marks one of four arrests for indecent exposure in Sarasota and Manatee Counties related to 47-year-old Frederick Piccolo Jr.

He previously worked as the spokesperson for Gov. Ron DeSantis and the director of marketing, media and strategic communication at NCF. No details have been released yet regarding the incident, but according to Sarasota County court records, Piccolo has three separate and active cases filed against him for exposing sexual organs in changing rooms at the University Town Center in Sarasota.

Rep. RJ May (R, Lexington) is charged with 10 counts of distributing child sexual abuse material. Those charges carry a maximum 20-year prison sentence, with a minimum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He was arrested Wednesday in Lexington County.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the social messaging app Kik alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April 2024 of several videos containing child sex abuse from an account with the username “joebidennnn69.” Investigators found at least 10 of those videos had been shared from that account and connected it with May’s mobile device and home IP address.

A forensic analysis of May’s phone showed he deleted Kik as well as other apps Telegram, Mega and Loki Messenger, within seconds of each other in April 2024. It also showed May allegedly used Kik to discuss the use of Telegram and Messenger, which prosecutors noted “both of which are applications that have frequently been used by individuals engaged in CSAM activity due to their encryption and foreign ownership.”


So he deleted evidence on multiple apps.
