Tips on keeping dildos safe while storing them together please.
We’ve had dildos seem to “melt” when stored touching another dildo.
Please share your dildo storage practices.
Thanks

I have heard that the best way to store dildos/sex toys are in "silk" style bags, SEPARATELY, after a through clean and dry.

We’ve found that dry is the key. We air dry ours or if that’s not an option we dry them well with a lint free towel.

I got rid of the ones that melted - and what I do is have a towel and make little separators with the cloth to help prevent them touching.

How on earth do they melt just from touching another one?
Silicone polymer can be formulated in various different ways. If the chemistry of two silicone toys isn't exactly the same or pretty close, they can react with each other and cause each other (or one can cause the other) to kind of de-polymerize, which results in gooey sticky texture and softening/melting of shape.

Silicone doesn't do this all by itself on its own, or else this would happen spontaneously to a toy when it wasn't touching another. It's a consequence of differences in the chemistry of silicone toys that aren't quite the same.

This is also the reason silicone lube shouldn't be used with silicone toys.

As far as I know, silicone is the only material which has this problem. Latex toys shouldn't be used with oil-based lubes, because the oil can cause a somewhat similar kind of break-down, but the latex toys can be stored together. And plastic toys don't have this problem at all.

it happens. No idea why. Maybe different materials react with each other. I didn't know this until my partner moved in with me along with her considerable toy collection, all in individual cloth bags.

Apart from the glass one. That lives in the freezer.

We bought a 20 pack of cotton drawstring bags off Amazon, they work well for most of our toys, one "are you sure it's a medium?" Bad Dragon toy is stored in a pillow case. Everything then gets stored in a gym bag.

The material some dildos are made of can do weird things! One day I was playing with several, and I layed this clear jelly one on the seat of my exercise bike. When I picked it up like half an hour later, it had melted a dildo-shaped indent into the seat!

I threw that one away.

The dildo or the exercise bike? 🤣

A friend went the industrial approach, bought an aluminum box/brief case and cut out inserts into foam for her favourite toys. Her travelling workshop.

Oh, I’ve been there! Some materials just don’t play nice together. I keep mine in separate pouches or wrap them in soft cloths to avoid the dreaded “melting” situation. Makes storage neater, too! 😅
