Early voting is over in my state. My roommate and I have been going doir-to-door on the near SouthSide of town. “Our” voters are mostly underprivileged Black and Hispanic folks. We’re carpooling the ones who are early-voting the right… I mean the CORRECT… way to the early voting locations to lock in their votes before they change their minds.
The Trumpers also have a ground game this time. We pass each other on the street. We’re cordial. It's funny. We folks who are actually DOING something we believe in don't have time for the name-calling and vapid shit-storrns you get on here.
You have to have a photo ID to vote. If this is supposed to be “voter suppression,” it isn't working. Minority participation in my precinct wen UP after the ID requirement was put in.
If you have enough real-looking paperwork to be on SNAP, I can get you a photo ID. Only one person in my entire precinct did not already have a photo-ID: She waa a ninety four year old black grandmother. Now she has a State ID and a ride to the polling place.
I know what I'm doing isn't much, but there are 100 other *cells” just like mine. We each have 100 or so voters. I'm in a deep Red State. We’re going to go for Trump no matter what I do. But we flipped our house seat blue in the midterms. Unseating Cruz is a much heavier lift, but Allred is attractive to my demographic. (He’s a Black Football star, and so far he avoids getting snarled in the gender/identity/woke bullshit which is killing us with “my” voters.)
Early voting is over. Now it's down to the last thousand “Deplorables” in Pa. I'd feel more confident if we had learned from Hillary the utter folly of labeling people whose votes we might need as “Deplorables,” but we didn't learn, so here we are. If it goes wrong Santayana won't be surprised.
I know. I know. The Electoral College. Blah blah blah blah. If the goalposts had been two feet farther apart, my high school would have won State. But even kids know you have to play the game in the stadium you’re in, not in the imaginary stadium that you think fits your game better.
Remember: to vote: Early, and Often.
