What good is the Electoral College?

The only way in which this statement gains any validity would be if the rules were changed during the course of events in order to alter the course of the event.

Trump presided over the nation because he won the election.
Biden presided over the nation because he won an election.

No judge, jury, or person stepped in and said,
this is now the President because,

"rules do not apply..."

What I am reading expressed here is an anger over losing
and the inability to process the loss and moveon.org...

Your anger and blame are solely misplaced.
Exactly. If the EC had worked in the dems favor they’d be the biggest proponents of it. Hypocrite thy name is liberal.

That is irrelevant -- I'm talking about changing it. Nothing in the Constitution provides any reason for the EC. The Federalist does, but not any good reason.
The Constitution is irrelevant? 🤣. The clown show continues. This is why you and your Ilk can’t be taken seriously, much less trusted with the keys to the kingdom.

Maybe not exactly, but the human condition is one of false-cause fallacy...

I remember some child's ditty about a king and a fucking horseshoe, or was it a lucky nail..., sickle and hammer...?

Problems on the national scale tend to get shouting and propaganda instead of solutions and addressing the cause of the problem. A falling birthrate gets "ban abortion" and "more immigrants." Now there's "abolish the electoral college" and handwaving away the concerns of the entire rural population, the farmers who grow our food.
Incorrect as usual, your majesty.

1. The people who want to ban abortion felt that way long before there were any concerns about falling birthrates (which probably are not a bad thing anyway).
2. Americans have just about always been divided between those who want to keep immigrants out and those who want us to be a beacon of freedom for all. Nothing remotely new about that.
3. Abolishing the electoral college would not "handwave away the concerns of the entire rural population", it would stop giving them effective veto power over everyone else.

Here are two examples why the electoral college won’t be abolished. Yes Hillary won the popular vote in the 2016 election. However if you discount the vote in California, Trump won the popular vote in the 49 other states. In the 2004 election, Bush won the popular vote by more than 3 million votes, but he won Ohio by less than 120,000 votes out of more than 5.5 million votes cast. Thus had Kerry won 60,000 more votes in Ohio and Bush had won 60,000 less votes, Kerry would have won the election via the electoral college even though Bush would still have won the popular vote by more than 3 million votes.

You would think the Dems might have learned a lesson not to mettle with the Constitution and tradition, because it can come back to bite you in the ass. Harry Reed when he was the majority leader in the Senate during the Obama administration, was frustrated by the Republicans’ success in employing the filibuster rule which deprived several Obama judicial appointments. So, he arranged to have the filibuster rule discontinued for judicial appointments. Lo and behold Trump came into power in Jan 2017 and was able to appoint three justices to the SCOTUS by the thinnest of margin.

Sorry!
With a per voter proportional vote of the stupid asinine outdated shitty compromise Electoral College? Hillary would have won both the popular and the improved Electoral College which disenfranchises millions from both parties

How the FUCK do you “discount” 10% of America?? Are you Russian?? Oh.. that’s right! That’s the Trumplikkkan plan this time across the nation. Account the election toss it to legislatures.. all gerrymandered and the House.. also gerrymandered!!

Good grief, why are you hung up on the dictatorship of the masses. We are NOT a direct democracy and never have been. We are a union of states, and states are paramount in so many things. As with everything, the EC was designed to prevent direct democracy, just as the Senate is biased in favor of State power.

Why do the FUCK do you want California and New York dictating to the rest of the States just because they have more people? We should be working to minimize the Federal Govt and empower the states, not the opposites.

It's obvious that they want dictators. All you have to do is read their posts on this board.
