Tbh, blockbuster was my last choice anyway. We had some fucking cool local video stores that were our go to’s cause they had more obscure sci fi and horror. Only towards the end did Blockbuster kill them off and become our regular.

The coolest was The Odyssey which was next door to the used bookstore, The Iliad, which is my favorite thing in the history of retail.

Toys R Us. How is this even a discussion? With the exception of Blockbuster and Hollywood Video, all the other stores have still-existing alternatives. I can't go to Borders, but I can still go to Barnes & Noble. Best Buy does everything Circuit City did. Target > KMart. But there's no just big ol' honking toy stores anymore.

It's only sorta-kinda back in the US. They just rebranded the toy departments at Macy's and called them Toys R Us. Not the same as having a giant store full of toys.
