All fireworks are legal here, so it looks like a scene out of Apocalypse Now on firework days, and around them. Mine dog just tried to hide everywhere. She keeps moving from hiding place to hiding place. Even dipped, she is totally terrified. Usually I pack her up and drive out to the country with a book until it's over.

The binary nature of our elections makes a third party almost impossible. Winner take all elections aren’t great compared to proportional representation, and don’t get me started on the Electoral College.
True but in 2016 the major parties ran the two candidates with the lowest positive polling numbers ever. It was a singular moment, and there was an actual chance for a third party to get any traction. Not winning, but real numbers. The three largest ran a man who wouldn't know foreign policy from pro wrestling, an anti-vaxer, and a man who made eating notebook paper look spicy.
One party could run Stalin, the other party could run Pol Pot and each would still get 40% even if you had Lincoln running 3rd party.
