Milton Milton Milton...

I think this hurricane might be the largest ever seen in the region.

Anyone in FL, get out. Apply for a mail-in ballot now.

Irma was huge.

Ian was bigger.

I think you may be watching a bit too much hurricane TV.

Now with that said, the west coast residents should be keeping a watch out. Anyone who resides in the storm surge area would likely be better off if they evacuated, especially around Tampa. But the reality is that storms can shift. We've got two and a quarter days before landfall - IF Milton doesn't slow down further. For landfall area of those who do not evacuate - there will be a lot of them, there always are - they need to make sure they have a working generator with at least three to four days worth of gas, food and water for a week, boarded up windows, sandbags, pick up the blowables from outside and wait for the power to go out.

People in my area are keeping a watch out. Deciding if they need to board up windows. If it's a 1, no boards. If it's a 2, depending on how high the wind speed is then boards.

Sucker's moving slow. That's a bit of a problem. Lots of time to gather energy and water.

Also, it makes it more difficult to nail down modeling more than 24 hours out.

Moving slow gives it time to rain out a bunch of moisture and expend a bunch of energy as well, so it’s kind of a mixed bag.

Once it hits land, moving slow just plain sucks.

I hope it picks up some movement speed as it progresses.

👍

David Axlerod criticized the Biden admin for.not lining up the hurricane to center on Mar La Gp

Ruh roh…you didn’t pray quick enough. The Milt-meister is now a cat 5!

Trump said that he will make the storm “just go away” so to all of his supporters: DON’T leave! You’ll be fine and perfectly (and beautifully) safe.
Doesn't Trump still have some nuclear codes? You would think he would drop one on his home state to show how it would work and dissipate that Cat 5 monster. :p:D

The models still haven't settled down yet. When I posted this all of them tracked through Central Florida in one line. Then they split, now they have several going north and one going south. I suspect we won't really have a refined modeling until later today and potentially tomorrow morning.
The model now posting that Milton is confirmed Cat 5 hurricane, will weaken to Cat 4 or maybe even 3 but the storm track has the eye hitting land at about 20 miles above Tampa which is actually the "worst case" scenario because the biggest storm surge is typically 20-30 miles AROUND the eye which means Tampa takes a direct hit. Airports closing tomorrow morning and Interstates 4 and 75 are packed. Tampa mayor says "You stay here, you are gonna die".

Vast majority of the spaghetti strands have the storm heading towards Savannah Georgia.

Bad time to live in central Florida.

It's shifted South again. Currently the models show landfall at Bradenton.

Yesterday the models showed it moving North, with the storm crossing just below orlando. Today the model show it moving across the state south of Kissimmee.

And there is still another day to wait to see where it actually settles into.

Savannah Georgia?

The models have consistently showing this going off into the Atlantic Ocean to the east.

Seeing the traffic jams on highways out of Florida, I wonder if some Floridians are getting creative with their escape route?

How about hopping on a one-week cruise to eastern or southern Caribbean? Might be doable out of Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Sail away from your troubles …

listened to a police chief of Treasure Island, today; he was saying how quite a few people didn't evac for Helene and there were fatalities... there were families shoulder-deep in floodwater in their own homes. It scared residents, and this time most have evacuated.

However, Helene was mainly a water event for them on the Island; there are piles right throughout the area of debris from houses...appliances, carpeting, drywall. Even though emergency fill pits have been opened to try and clear some of this before Milton hits, the bulk of it will never get cleared; this one will be a wind and water event, so al that crud out on the street will become projectiles or floating debris. The poor guy is convinced that the Island will be unrecognisable after the storm.

I see a huge surge of people trying to relocate northwards after this.

I'm just glad this whole climate change/global warming thing is a hoax perpetuated by China. Donald said it, so it must be true.

Just listen to QAnon and remember that the United States is a corporation owned by the Brits, the same country that can't keep itself together and whose rulers couldn't prevent Brexit....also, don't forget the Jewish Space Lasers. As a part-Jew, I feel shortchanged that I haven't gotten at least a small ray-gun myself.

I just read about this poor husband and father who watched in horror as his wife and daughter were swept up by the hurricane.

How the fuck does this happen?
