The problem here seems to be that the father was negligent. I don't know what was going on....but guns should not have been anywhere around this kid from the moment he was found to have made threats.Narrative I’ve heard is that the shooter was investigated for making online threats against a middle school. Law enforcement couldn’t prosecute because of reasonable doubt caused by the shooter claiming his discord account was hacked, so he could not be held responsible. (Justice and truth @HisArpy style) Is it simple coincidence that his discord account was the one hacked? Did he make the post and his dad simply hired a good lawyer? Did the kid successfully gaslight his dad?
That next Christmas a parent gifted him an AR15. Second day of school he leaves class and returns with the gun, comes after his teacher, comes against a locked door and ends up shooting a bunch of kids and other teachers.
It seems that a kid who was “pro-social” might find some interest in his school mates. I’m not sure what definition of “anti-social” you’re referring to but this kid fits the description literally and psychology.

But I also know there are many complex facets here we don't even know about.
