Posting videos in PMs.

When I post a video or picture on in a PM now (I use the attachment link) Lit changes the URL. It puts in *******. I’m using Dropbox. I’ve shared videos this way for at least a year. Did something change?

I just noticed the same thing today, including with still pics.
There are approved hosting sites only now I think.
As far as I can see, you can't even insert an image in a PM directly, though you can do that in an open thread.

Here is what I believe the reasons for this change probably are.
1. Lit has a responsibility for its content, and there is a strong socially-conservative wave worldwide that can easily make officials clamp down on sites like this if they have an excuse. The approved sites for linking all have some kind of content monitoring, whereas private cloud storage facilities like Dropbox and Drive do not. That could leave Lit open to problems. Many other sex-related sites have become more careful, and require ID verification from anyone who posts videos and pics - especially sites that are based in the First World. They don't show that ID on content or even profiles (unless you tell them to). Obviously a scammer could gather details in that way too.
2. There are many instances of blackmail, where users engage with others under a false ID. A favourite is Nigerian scammers posing as retired US Generals who think you are beautiful. They will then tell the site user that, unless they pay up, they will share your details and content with your wife or employer.
3. Lit can more easily moderate direct pic upload posts on the open forum than either linked content, or uploaded content within a private message. That probably explains why you can upload a pic directly on the open forum, but not in a private message.
