were you an A/V club kid?I clicked play and got this...
Homeschooled mostly.were you an A/V club kid?
I had no idea. But that’s basically a yes anyway.Homeschooled mostly.
That's so interesting! How did you like it? Did you also attend regular school? Homeschooling is illegal here except for certain very very fringe cases like traveling abroad or severe illness, but even then is virtually never granted. We have something called Skolplikt, "duty to attend school", and even having a low attendance rate is cause for hands-on investigation by Skolverket, the department of schooling.Homeschooled mostly.
This was the 80's and my state was super lax about it. Nowadays it is way more regulated. You have testing regularly to see if your kids are getting the proper education they need. That's so interesting! How did you like it? Did you also attend regular school? If I could go back and change it I would have preferred to have gone to public school. I went to a Christian school which was awful and that's why my folks were keen to try homeschooling.
Ultimately I ended up finishing early and started working full time.
Thank you for sharing thatThere are a few dozens religious (mostly christian) private schools here, and they've been hotly debated over the years. Laws and regulations have restricted them more and more. Don't think it'll be long before they're all absorbed into the regular school system.
Ever thought about going back? It's been on my mind a lot over the last few years. We have Komvux, kommunal vuxenskola, communal adult school, for people who'd like to go back and take classes that aren't quite university level. I don't know what I want to study though.
Why is adulting so hard.
Yes I have thought about it. History and languages would be fun. Online classes would probably be best for me.Thank you for sharing thatThere are a few dozens religious (mostly christian) private schools here, and they've been hotly debated over the years. Unfortunately we've been slipping during the past 20 years or so. Graduation rates are plummeting, especially in immigrant kids. So while our system's OKish, we're still the worst in scandinavia.I saw a documentary recently where they brought Scandinavian teachers and students to the US to get their opinions. (I hate the US education system) and it was funny watching the US educators (principles and other people on governing bodies) get ripped apart for how awful the system is. Including the lax standards for home schooling. America's education system is a joke compared to other countries.
Most of the US based people were baffled at hearing how the focus on learning was 'being kids and learning stuff' rather than dozens of standardized tests and other nonsense.
Yaaas! I vote for something useless but beautiful! Like Icelandic! Serenade us with one of Europe's longest unchanged languages!Yes I have thought about it. History and languages would be fun. Online classes would probably be best for me.
I can speak a little bit of Canadian.Unfortunately we've been slipping during the past 20 years or so. Graduation rates are plummeting, especially in immigrant kids. So while our system's OKish, we're still the worst in scandinavia.
Would have been fun to see that culture clash though!

Though you'd probably be better of with something actually useful. Like Spanish. Or Canadian.
So I have my VPN set in Toronto, so all of my YouTube ads are in French. I like that....I can speak a little but of Canadian.![]()

That sounds too political...What does @crazychemgirl do to revitalize this place? She posts all these awesome prompts. I don't know where she gets them from. We need a vice-CCG. Can we hold an election?
