I’m hoping someone can explain what Trump was thinking when he posted this. I realize the right used the abortion issue for the last forty years to rally their base. I understand why that worked. They truly felt they were out there protecting the unborn.
The right has been trying to overturn Roe V Wade for decades and thanks to Trump’s appointments of Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett got their wish. With the Supreme Court ruling putting abortion within the jurisdiction of the states it also essentially banned abortion in half the states. Republicans were so caught up the their rhetoric they didn’t see the political consequences of aborting Roe V Wade.
The overturning of Roe V Wade not only outlaws abortion but IVF as well. Trump and his administration have flat-out told women they are incapable of making decisions about their bodies. Women are pissed. I understand every bit of that.
What I don’t understand is why Trump believes he is the guardian of women’s reproductive rights.
Or more likely he now realizes overturning Roe V Wade has dire political consequences and now he’s disparately trying to walk it back. Is he so delusional he honestly believes just a couple of words will change people’s feelings about the consequences brought on by the change in abortion laws nationwide?

Not great. OK-ish. He pushed the shots that reduce fertility, but as a choice to get the shots. That is better than the mandates and mass firings. The kids who had the shots when they were too young to consent could be bitter for a long while when they become infertile adults, if they live that long.

This is just an educated guess, based on my experience with other narcissists whom I've known personally, but I think he probably does believe that. Narcissists always believe they're right about anything, and can always convince themselves that something they want to believe is true, is in fact true. It's why they're so good at lying: besides not feeling guilty about their dishonesty like you and I would, they also have themselves fooled into thinking it's not really a lie.
And when it comes to Trump's beliefs, we should always keep in mind that he only has one core belief: in himself.

For example, the doctors, nurses, firefighters, cops, teachers, soldiers, etc. who refused the covid quaxxines and suddenly needed new careers. This site says 17,000 military service members were discharged. There are many thousands more in other fields, and millions who bowed to the pressure and will live or die with the consequences.
