I'm fairly certain they mate for life. Geese that is. There were a couple who stayed together by a pond in my neighborhood. They kept trying to have babies but the eggs never took so we would have scrambled goose eggs for breakfast a lot.

Yeah they do … there was a story on the news about a male goose that lost its mate and it was so lonely and they introduced it to a new male goose in the hopes they would at least give each other companionship
