Do you play FFXIV, by any chance? I was never much into RPGs because the level-grinding drives me fucking insane, but I was kidnapped by a large group from another gaming community when its servers shut down…9 years ago…and they haven’t let me leave FFXIV since I’ve grown to love the story and worlds and characters though! Took a bunch of time off in the spring while I was too sick to function and need to get caught up on the last expansion’s endgame stuff so I can start the new expansion, for which I’m about a month and a half behind on now

This is the most important question to ever be asked in S&S.

7 is what got so many Westerners into the franchise *coughs POSERS (in smug 6 fan)
8 I actually liked the junction system, and had at least two play throughs specifically to become the Triple Triad master
9, I was too harsh on when it came out, but replaying it again recently, it’s a beautiful love letter to the 1-6 era of the franchise

....are you me? A perfect answer! The only thing I'd add is that feeling of wonder when starting 8 for the first time... The graphic fidelity was breathtaking. From the opening sequence which, to me back then, looked photo realistic, to exclaiming "look!! we can see their FINGERS!!" once the in-engine graphics first rolled up.

And the music... oh god the music. I still listen to the 8 OST. 7 and 9 had bangers but nothing on the level of 9. Shuffle or Boogie baby!

Ranking 7-9 id probably put them 7, 9, 8 I started on 6, but 7 was a phenomenal game and story and it’s worthy of its place in the gaming histories.
9, as I said was a love letter to the early franchise and had a touching story
8, while the mechanics were fun the plot was nonsensical at best.

Agree, the music on 8 was some of the best in the 3D era
