Day 5: A song you enjoy that's in a different language.

Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin: Je t'aime mais non plus

Oui... je t'aime... sung of course in a breathy voice...

You old(not that old obviously) smoothy.

Day 5: A song you enjoy that's in a different language.

rentrer chez moi - Christine and the Queens (Chris - Redcar)

Et puis tous les matins je me lève
Et je me demande encore ce qui m’est arrivé là
Et puis tous les matins comme en rêve
Je me demande encore ce qui m’est arrivé là
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Je veux rentrer chez moi
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Je veux rentrer chez moi

(And every morning I wake up
And I still wonder what happened to me
And every morning like in a dream
I still wonder what happened to me
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I want to get back home
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I want to get back home)

Day 4: A song that isn’t overtly religious, but feels inspirational in a spiritual sense

Just learned that this album was released on this day 55 years ago (1969). I was two.

The Stooges is the debut studio album by the American rock band The Stooges, released on this day in 1969 and is considered a seminal proto-punk release. (Punk rock history)

Welp... since I just posted German punk the other day, let's go in a different direction.
Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" with songs in Latin, Middle High German, and a smattering of Old French.
This one is Latin.
"In Taberna Quando Sumus" from "Carmina Burana" - Carl Orff

Catching up here ...

Day 3: A song that reminds you of one of your closest friends in life

Weirdly enough, I cannot think of a specific song that directly reminds me of my closest friend. But everytime I hear this song, I think of her brother (which makes me think of her). His band recorded an excellent version of it during the pandemic... through Zoom!

My go-to song for inspiration! (I think I post this at some point during each monthly challenge)

Love her music!!

Having grown up in the 80s, seeing this category immediately took me to a couple artists. One stood out among the rest and this video is worth the watch for comedic reasons. A few years later, a cult comedy movie came out called Tapeheads starring Tim Robbins and John Cusack. This video seems like something their characters from that movie would have produced. 🤣

Falco - Der Kommissar

Great song! Took me back!

Day 3: A song that reminds you of one of your closest friends in life

My best bud from college decided I should sing this during a karaoke night in New Orleans. I swear the DJ sped it up to fuck with me. I punctuated the last ‘rawhide’ by smashing my longneck in the corner of the bar, thereby getting us both thrown out.

Good times rollin’ with good friends.
