Day 18: A song for a celebration

I'm lucky. So very very lucky. We've been together well over a decade now and, honestly, while time has flown by we've also made a tiny universe of memories together. She's absolutely everything I want, I need, I love. And that's worth celebrating. I think I'll make dinner tonight. Something fancy. 💘

REO Speedwagon - Heart of Gold
Every time she looks my way
I lose control, what can I say
she's everything I've ever been after, whoa!
I found the Girl with the Heart of Gold 💛

Day 18: A song for a celebration

What’s better to celebrate than a birthday?

In our home, as we raised our kids, we almost never sang the generic “Happy Birthday to You”. For one thing, it’s boring. For another it’s too prone to diverging into “you look like a monkey and you smell like one too”. No offense intended @SalaciousMonkey22

No, we always sing the chorus to John McCutcheon’s ‘Cut the Cake’. It’s a lot more upbeat and less likely to turn into a personal insult.

A few weeks ago I just needed to listen to that song. I turned my car stereo up to 11 and rocked out to it so hard.

Sometimes you just need it. Totally!
Although it can be a bit hard to shake...
Even though I posted it... I hesitated to listen.
Now it will be in my head all day long!
Great song to rock out to at 11 though...

This was already a tough choice but then @lavendersilk had such a good interpretation of the prompt:
This is a song about cunnilingus . That's celebratory, right? Absolutely!
I did start reconsidering again 😂

Ultimately, I've decided to stick to my guns because this song is itself a celebration. It's Kesha's first single on her own label after everything that she's been through, it seems like a good fit. And I'm simply obsessed with the polka vibes.

I smell and look delightful. No offense taken.
