This country's love affair with guns is revolting. ..And we're so far gone we don't see it for what it is - a twisted, psychotic fetish.

To think there are millions of American's who consider gun play a hobby, a lifestyle, or an activity around which the family spends time bonding - as though celebrating a device engineered to shoot a projectile that pierces skin, bone, and brain was a normal, wholesome thing.

Imagine you moved next door to a guy who, instead of worshipping guns, enjoys brewing poison for killing people and making full-size guillotine replicas. "Don't worry neighbor!" he tells you, "I would never use these on people unless forced to do so! I only use the poison on lab rats and the guillotines on pig carcasses." What would you think of the guy? ..You would think he was fucking nuts. ..But worshipping weapons that can kill multiple people from hundreds of yards away in a matter of seconds? Spending weekends at gun clubs showing off their arsenal and debating accuracy and stopping power with fellow nut-jobs? .Nope! nothing to see here people. ..He's just a normal American celebrating his birthright.

Are guns a necessity? ..Of course they are... for law enforcement and military personnel.

So people in this country shouldnt have any right to protect themselves? Fantastic! And the 15-20 million hunters who would rather harvest their own game rather than eat the poison the government offers? Fuck them too? Sorry pal, guns are here to stay! Ive got what some would call an arsonal, and guess what, in 60 years not one of those guns has ever killed anything it wasnt supposed to kill! There are an estimated 600,000 deer hunters that take to the woods in this state every year and most years zero people are killed, and if someone dies its by accident or heart attack! Hunting is a 50 billion dollar industry in this country and feeds many many people. And your just willing to end that and turn over animal control over to our useless government who cant control shit the way it is! And I suppose all that money should just be sent to the Ukraine instead! Good luck with that! Im telling you right now, gun control is going to be far less in the near future and I can promise you, crime will be way down as well! And those who commit crimes with guns, they wont be walking out of court houses anymore! Thats a PROMISE! NOTHING CAN STOP WHATS COMING! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Sorry pal, guns are here to stay!
Yep... they sure are.

And I don't begrudge those who own a gun for hunting - although I seriously doubt it's a cheaper or healthier way of acquiring protein (does anyone seriously believe that!?). Nor do I fault those those who own a gun to protect their home. ..But fetishizing guns? ..Making them your hobby - your lifestyle? Going to gun shows and hanging out at shooting ranges? ....Introducing children to guns like they are just a normal part of living in the US? ..Nope. Don't get it. Never will.

I owned a gun in the past. ..And learned how to use it responsibly. But whenever I looked at it it made me, well... kinda sad. I would HATE to ever need to use a gun. Unfortunately, there are millions of Americans who fantasy about one day needing to use one. ..Twisted hero fantasies, I suppose. And equating guns w/ patriotism? Again... pure lunacy.

Sorry pal, in the Upper midwest HUNTING IS THE NORM! Its tradition! Its FAMILY! Its a way of life! Hell, schools are closed the week or two of gun season! And its like any other sport, the only way to get better is practice! And practice we do! You have no idea how rural America operates and thank God for that!

You want lunacy, you're talking to the right trumptard.

Shut the fuck up. Fetish? It's a Constitutional Amendment, a right. And if you don't like that, emigration is absolutely legal. You can go north...or south. "Fetish"...do you even know what that word means? I'll answer that. No.

Fat Phil hasn't been able to find his dick in decades. Hoping for him to find a clue is beyond reach.

I will use this as a chance to dip my toe in these waters. In addition to hunting what about competition shooting? All the Olympic shotgun sports like skeet and trap shooting? Or the pistol and rifle competitions? Are those people nuts who should have their sports outlawed?

I said nothing about laws. ..I'm saying that making guns your "lifestyle" is borderline psychotic.

Fair enough. So training, practicing, and competing is different? Doing that is not as you put it borderline psychotic?

I'm referring to the guns that are meant for police/ military that are in the hands of tens of millions of civilians.

...I'll repeat.

Imagine you moved next door to a guy who, instead of worshipping guns, enjoys brewing human poison and making guillotine replicas. "Don't worry neighbor!" he tells you, "I would never use these on people unless forced to do so! I only use the poison on lab rats and the guillotines on pig carcasses."

It's amazing any of these toxically masculine pricks ever get laid.

Why would that be a problem? If he's not hurting anyone, why would you care? That actually sounds awesome to me. I would like nothing more than to live next door to someone who owned a guillotine and a bucket of strychnine.

I don't know of anyone brewing their own rat poison these days, but I know that farmers used to do that back when the base materials were easier to acquire. And I know of people who still make their own glue traps for catching mice. I've done it myself, in fact.

I once lived next door to a guy who owned a bunch of swords. He would sometimes behead alligator carcasses in his back yard with them (Louisiana) and on one occasion he invited me to join. We chopped up a gator, then we cooked it and ate it. I thought it was cool. If you don't think that's cool then fine, but if you think that there's something bad about a harmless pastime in the privacy of his own backyard then person with the real issues is you.

He would shoot the gators before he chopped them, of course. Though I'm sure you think that wild game hunters are all dangerous psychopaths as well.

I trust the common people with guns a lot more than I trust system pigs or imperialist mercenaries.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The 2nd amendment writers clearly intended common ownership of military weapons. The missing piece now is a militia, which can be interpreted as the National Guard, but joining the Guard can result in being sent away to fight in a war that benefits only billionaires.

nonsense... the framers of the constitution could not have possibly predicted guns would one day be capable of killing dozens and dozens of people from hundreds of yards away in a minute or less.

The rest of the world is utterly mystified by our gun lunacy.

From what I've seen, there are very few people in America who actually live like that. They're the right-wing equivalent of libs who tell you their pronouns before they tell you their name and who want sex-ed taught to 6 year-olds. I used to think that that such people were common until I actually spent an extended period of time living in rural America. Even most of your "hardcore" gun guys are really no crazier about it that any sword guys or car guys that you might know. And privately-owned cars kill more people than privately-owned guns.

The framers of the constitution had cannons...

...that said, fuck the framers.

If a civilian hadn't been given access to an assault rifle (and no civilian has a reason to need one), there would not have been an assassination attempt on Donald Trump on Saturday.
