Thank you for your honesty, your vulnerability, and your transparency. That trust is a powerful thing. You are who you are. And that is a changing, and fluid thing. I hope for you (and for all of us), to fully come to understand yourself in a safe and healthy way. I hope that very much for you.Day 6: A song that mentions the time of day
The song is about a girl’s first time crossing the romantic line with another girl. The timid, youthful, sweet lyrics give me nostalgia for something I never experienced.
I was in my late 20s, and married to a man, when I finally admitted to myself that I’m bisexual. There’s a part of me that looks back and wonders what that experience would have been like.
The artist, Olive Klug, has a voice that I just adore. I first discovered them on TikTok singing a Joni Mitchell cover, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
“I can't remember which party we danced through that night
The boys ask stupid questions
We just laugh at the secret we can't hide
For the first time Cinderella's staying out past midnight
Your lips press soft against my shoulder
It's not forever
It's just a moment we can smile at when we're older”
Olive Klug - Not Forever After
Right I'll go look for something else then. Tsk.Day 7: A Song that mentions the ocean
I saw them on multiple occasions. Always an amazing show. You definitely didn’t expect them to perform this song
I love your statement. It oozes your love with every letter.Day 7: A song that mentions the ocean
I love the ocean. That is probably too tame a statement. The coast is where my soul lives. I learned this love at my mother's knee, and I have continued with it all my life. The beauty, the power, the danger, the mystery, the bounty, the magic, the joy. I tried living in a land-locked state and just couldn't do it -- I didn't last six months. I have walked in the ocean, played, swam, boated across it -- all wonderful. But learning to surf was a revelation. It was terrifying and joyful and spiritual -- everything religion was supposed to be. If God exists, They are a surfer.
When you surf, you need to get out past the breakers. Around, over, or through them. It is work, and it is hard, and sometimes a bit daunting. But when you get out there, past the roar and the roll, you wait. You wait your turn, because civility is important, and this is fucking Santa Cruz, not Malibu. And you wait for the wave. Your wave. When I was new at it, I spent more time waiting than surfing. (I never got past being vaguely adequate as a surfer, to be honest) And being on the water, in the water, I spent a lot of time looking back, not at the beach but at the horizon where the ocean and sky come together. Air and water, opposites meeting forever.
"Did you listen to your mother?
Did she show you how to be?
Can she stand across the water?
Can she calm the stormy seas?
Have you ever crossed your borders?
Where the ocean meets the sky
Now and then, and in the evening
Is where a man might go to die."
Kingfishr is an Irish group. I don't know if they surf, though I rather doubt it. But they understand that the lines between one thing and another --sky and sea, fire and water, living and dying, loving and not anymore-- aren't as separate as we like to think.
"Heart In the Water," Kingfishr.

This was my first pick. I love this band so much!!Day 7: A song that mentions the ocean
Day 7: A song that mentions the ocean
I'm glad I could be of help. This song is hard to crack. The look and the cheesy 80s arrangement... But at the core it's lovely. Maybe there should be a a version just with piano backing. This was my first pick. I love this band so much!!
Looked through the other posts and @LeBaronSamedi inspired me to choose this instead. If you can get through his Prince wannabee / El deBarge vibe, this is such a beautiful song about the French islands. Just close your eyes and listen.
Not available for me. What was it?
Ah sorryNot available for me. What was it?
Tune!
Day 7
All About Eve - Martha's Harbour
You are an ocean wave, my love
Crashing at the bow
I am a galley slave, my love
If only I could find out the way
To sail you
Maybe I'll just stow away
