Sex & Shenanigans

Had a mediated divorce. Worth every fucking penny.
Definitely better than paying two overpriced lawyers to fight about a slowly depleting pile of money that is going into their pockets instead.

I had an acquaintance tell me that paying $50k for a lawyer was absolutely worth it because she got a house worth $300k. So I walked her through her settlement. Turns out she got the title to the house with $120k outstanding (so $180k in equity on the home). And her husband had offered her $150k to settle the divorce at the beginning.

So she spent 50k out of pocket for atty fees and then made the poor guy pay for those fees - which he could only pay $20k before he declared bankruptcy. And walked away with no house but no mortgage obligations. She ended up paying the $30k and $120k in mortgage debt and a house.

So the math: $180k - 30k = she walked away with essentially 150k. She would’ve gotten $150k at the start with no divorce lawyers to feed. But she felt that she won the house. 🤦

The advantage of a slow fizzling marriage, I suppose. Neither had an ax to grind. Between the divorce fees themselves and the mediation, it cost us less that $1000. Split everything down the middle, created timelines for selling the house (I chose to let her stay there as long as our kid is in college before we sell), and nothing too ugly. About as good as I could have hoped for, and not being assholes in front of our daughter.

You did good, friend.

Ok all … what is your least favourite “adult task” …

Laundry?
Grocery shopping?
Cooking?
Dishes?
Having to decide WHAT TO EAT FOR EVERY FUCKING MEAL EVERY DAY (is mine)
Paying bills?
I’m with you. Deciding three meals and two snacks for an entire family every single day is the bane of my existence.

I also hate hand washing dishes. I’ll load/unload the dishwasher all day but I cannot stand hand washing dishes. I’ve had to hide certain hand wash only items in my house.

I should try... I honestly don't actually ever eat cereal so idfk why I am even talking lol - but those look yummy! 💜

Not sure they'll beat honey nut tho. 💛
They won’t beat honey nut if you’re just comparing taste. Honey nut are sweet delicious sugar cereal. (Autocorrect keeps changing it to “honey but” 🤣)
However, total package, the multigrain are so much better for you and taste better than the plain ones. I really rarely eat them myself. But I give them to my kids, mixed with plain yogurt and some sort of fresh fruit. And sometimes I eat some because it’s really good.

If I want sugary cereal I’m just gonna dive in and go for something completely useless like Reese’s puffs lol

My guilty pleasure cereal is Oh's. But I usually don't have them with milk... I just eat them out of the box. Like a heathen. 😇
