It can be. Honestly, the chemistry of the vagina tries to destroy as many sperm as it can before they reach the Fallopian tubes and the egg as a way of avoiding multiple fertilization of the egg, which would be lethal. It is frankly amazing we have kids at all. (And dinner table conversation with labor nurses is a fascinating and disgusting thing, just saying.)
