I don't think so. I don't care what they're perception of me is, I care what interpretation they concluded with and that I may be able to correct their internalized monologue. Think I'm an asshole? Well, that wasn't my intention, but I won't argue to convince you otherwise. Think I said something derogatory about you? No, you need to know you did nothing incense me. You may still think less of me, but I won't put effort into changing that.
I try to extend tons of benefit of the doubt because I want people to be more kind than they probably are.

I stopped worrying what others thought of me long ago. Their opinion of me is none of my business. I'm not a purposely mean or malicious person, and I assume everyone is the same. We're all doing our best, when I lean into that way of thinking my life is a lot happier and there are far fewer living rent free in my head.

That is not to say that if I unintentionally offend someone I'm not going to appologize.
