The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

My H used to grill the salmon. We only like wild salmon; I love Copper River season! He put a simple glaze of Worcestershire sauce, butter, lemon, and some seasonings on the meat side. It would go into the grill basket on the skin side at high heat. When the skin was fairly blistered, he turned down the grill heat, took the skin off (we don't eat it), and put more glaze on. Just a few minutes on the meat side is all it would need. It was delicious! The crows get the skin.
I love grilled salmon. I use a whiskey, maple syrup and brown sugar marinade.

my father would turn over in his grave if he knew I made an abomination called “vegetarian lasagna.”

But I make a huge pan of it for Christmas. Everyone loves it. Homemade gravy (that’s marinara sauce for non-NJ Italians). It’s a Christmas tradition for us.

The other thing I only eat on Christmas is Pork Roll. It’s a jersey (and eastern PA) thing.

I make a white sauce for my veggie lasagne. Yours looks divine! 😋

Thank you for educating me on pork roll. I never heard of it before!

It’s a jersey thing. Also eastern PA.

It’s a pork “product.” Super fattening. 18g of fat per serving. I have it only 2x a year.

It so good.

Goodnight all. Sweet dreams.

What veggies? Makes me wonder if I'm going to have to use my Picky Eater fork while eating Miss K's lasagna
The nice thing about making your own is you can put whatever veggies you like in it! I like most but won't eat eggplant or okra. It's a texture thing.

Okay, dat dere's funny!!!

I feel the same way about the end cuts on a rib roast

I bought a set of stones for sharpening knives - for cutting bitches and other uses. Now I need to get some decent knives.
I like the end cut on prime rib. The inside is a way too fatty for me.

I bought a little paring knife at Target. It has a sharpener built into the case. I accidentally cut myself when taking it out the first time. It's as sharp as a scalpel! I had no idea I cut my palm until I saw some blood dripping. It's just what I needed.
Oh my I'm so sorry.... That's unpleasant.... Take care

I did laundry qnd changed bed linens, put stuff in the shed from the closet and looked at the weeds that need to be pulled...... hahahaha
Too bad you don't have laser eyes! You could just get rid of your weeds the easy way! 🤣🤣

It's cooling off here, too.

Everything I have ever tried to attach is too effing big, so I don't.

I wanna make my s'ghetti sauce better. A consistently good recipe. Mine seems to need a little . . . something.
I put sausage and beef in mine. Sometimes I grate some zucchini or carrots in it. You can't tell but it makes the sauce good, I think. I always add wine. Lots of garlic, onions, oregano, parsley. San Marino tomatoes make excellent sauce. I use a stick blender in the can to chop them up a bit.

Happy Sunday!!! Cup #1 is done and #2 is coming up. Making the list for grocery shooping (like Lisa Douglas would say.) Rain is on its way, and it ain't gettin' very warm here today.

So it looks like my s'ghetti sauce isn't quite so lame but might could use some different ingredients. Maybe I'm being too hard on it. Maybe I should cook some today since it's chillier.

I don't drink much red wine but I do like a nice syrah or smoth merlot with a meat lasagna.

I like a crisp white or sparkling wine with a veggie lasagne.
I had to laugh when I read this! Here is the scene from Sideways that single handedly tanked the Merlot industry (according to Wine Spectator long overdue)….

The movie is a must watch…the book is even better but HARD PASS on the second installment of the book series!

*for the record…I like Merlot😊

Drink what you like. Don't worry about what other people think. I don't know that much about wine; I'm usually up for experimentation. If I don't really care for a wine to drink, I'll cook with it.
Even the “experts” are saying the same. Drink what you like! They just want to move bottles off the shelves and have long understood they had a snob problem. They’re still out there, but never let that get in the way of a good pull on the cork ( or a twist of the wrist more now!)

And now…your morning Zen to go with yer Merlot!🤣
