Sex & Shenanigans

There used to be three networks. And they would do "TV Movie of the Week." ABC did one called Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. It was about this couple who buy an old house. The fireplace in the basement is bricked up and sealed. The handyman says "fuck, no, don't open that." Guess what they do? So they release these prunefaced little harry bastard who want to either hurt or capture the wife. Everyone else, including her husband, thinks she is losing it.

It is sureal. I was fucking five-years old. I was convinced these things were after me until...what day is it? I heard them in my house. I felt them running on my bed. It fucking scared me.

Here is a scene. Remember, I was five.
I feel like I've told this story a million times. But, what the hell...

I was 8 or 9 when the "It" miniseries came on television, and I watched it every night for three nights I believe. Didn't scare me one bit. I mean it had John Boy and Lana Lang in it! Also, Tim freaking Curry. They are beloved actors. I wasn't scared at all. I wanted more.

The movies were pretty good too. Not scary to me.

However, The Blair Witch Project scared the crap out of me when it came out. Had all the lights on in the house for a month. I think I was 19? 20?
