I have, many years ago. It was... meh. For me, a horror film has to have either exceptionally horrific scenes, or an exceptionally well crafted story. Martyrs was okay at both - that's rare, but it also doesn't make anything about it stand out to me. The framework was great, everyone loves a good revenge story, but it just didn't pull it off very well.Out of curiosity, have you watched Martyrs?
Gore, torture, physical pain - they all get visceral reactions from me and I like that nauseated feeling. But that's not emotional, just plain physical.I’m curious. I was scanning through the “types of horror, yay/nay” discussion, and the emotional impact it has.
What scenes in film or TV just plain stick in your head and always get an emotional reaction from you, horror or otherwise? Why?
Hehehehhe YES! It's fucking fantastic. I usually lump it in with stuff like Shaun of the Dead, and Cabin in the Woods - exceptional horror/comedy.(Have you seen Black Sheep? You need to see Black Sheep. )
Mindhunter? It was fantastic. Too bad it won't get a third season...I don't mind some true crime, but Netflicks did a Jeffrey Dahmer series.
After reading your post, that's completely understandable. Horror isn't for everyone, for a multitude of reasons. Like spicy food. Some of us are just a bit masochistic. Not that I am judging. As long as it doesn't hurt someone else, people should be free to do whatever makes their sick little hearts dance with joy. But that is why it doesn't make mine.
And my response...That might change after you hear that Vocaroo!
I'm a walking contradiction, but yes. I could espouse all my wild thoughts on the trainwreck that is the modern church, but I'll save everyone from that nightmare. Are you religious, if you don't mind me asking.![]()
That man has been old for a very long time. But you're correct, he's so good he never lets you know he's aware that he's talking to felt things with hands up their assesThe reason it is the best is that Michael Cain thoroughly ignored that the rest of the cast were Muppets and played it completely, perfectly straight. He acted as if he were on stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and nailed it.
You and nearly every other person who has seen it. It's nearly impossible not to. And the tragic thing is, they still didn't capture the true barbery of crucifixion. The process of dying that way is horrid.Yeah, I’ve only seen The Passion once, and that scene….im not religious whatsoever, but I had tears falling when I saw that
You captured my inner monologue so well here!OMG... I'm sure I have a list....
Hmmm... I could think of some stuff to write about...
EEEERRRK!!! Hard brakes there! I can't make it happen, Idon't have someone I'm in love with the explore all my myriad of kinky thoughts. So...I'm totally out of luck there. And once that thought crosses my mind again, then all thoughts of exploring what I would love to do start depressing me and make me feel alone again.![]()
I am such a pain in my own ass!!![]()
I have not, FTR. It’s sorta on my “if I get a chance, maybe” list. But yours is maybe the most “meh” response I’ve ever heard. Most people I’ve talked to have much stronger reactions one way or the otherI have, many years ago. It was... meh. Yes, yes you haveHave I mentioned that your thread is better with you in it?
I’m so fucking damaged …. I can watch almost anything and not be affected by it.I have, many years ago. It was... meh. My emotional responses come from mental torment, grief, sadness, shock. That scene in the movie Hereditary instantly comes to mind. Toni Colette should get an Oscar.
I don’t care about even, just not moi.Yes, yes you have
You just like it when the abuse is sprinkled evenly among the men-folk.
Keep telling you, ventilation matters!I’m so fucking damaged …. I can watch almost anything and not be affected by it.
Ambiguous! Are you telling me you got through Hereditary without even flinching?I’m so fucking damaged …. I can watch almost anything and not be affected by it.
Yeah I’m messed in the head.Ambiguous! Are you telling me you got through Hereditary without even flinching? That deserves its own award.
There is definitely that one particular scene that just leaves you completely shook but there was another scene in the movie for me that actually made me jump. And it was the most mundane of things!Ambiguous! Are you telling me you got through Hereditary without even flinching? That deserves its own award.
It's unrequited. She is marrying someone else. But do you? That is the real question.
My DM is open. I bet we could share equally wild stories.I'm a walking contradiction, but yes. I could espouse all my wild thoughts on the trainwreck that is the modern church, but I'll save everyone from that nightmare.
I'm truly sorry for you.You captured my inner monologue so well here!
Eh, being.... avtrubbad. Blunted? Is that the word? When stuff no longer phases you. I know there's a word for it. Jaded? I wouldn't say being jaded is messed up, it's just that you're used to seeing something.Yeah I’m messed in the head.
I think that may be why (hereditary spoilers) Toni crying on the floor after she found her daughter got to me. I've had raw tragedy in my life, and Toni's depiction was so true to life that it made my mind lurch and my stomach wrench. It got me so fucking shook that I had to take a walk to stop hyperventilating. Only time that's ever happened to me due to a film. 10/10 acting. The only horrors that truly get me are things I’ve seen.
Oh, I love Cabin in the Woods. I watch that still, even knowing all about it.Hehehehhe YES! It's fucking fantastic. I usually lump it in with stuff like Shaun of the Dead, and Cabin in the Woods - exceptional horror/comedy.

What options are there? What sort of hussy do you take me for madam?
That show died after Mandy Patinkin left. First two seasons were peak procedural TV! Also, fun drinking game; a shot every time they say UnsubI loved Criminal Minds,
My I point out that I posted a dick trick on Lit after being here. I have no idea who I am anymore...Right!?! Just a week ago I didn't even want to speak on here and now I've downloaded Audition and started playing with audio mixing and stuff. This thread is doing things to us! Next up; MissLabelled sings Diggy Diggy Hole![]()
Same dude. Same. I don't know if I'll ever do it again either. I may send if specifically asked, but there's enough weiner on the internet, I don't need to publish mine too.My I point out that I posted a dick trick on Lit after being here. I have no idea who I am anymore...
I pushed through and was happy at the very end. Though a lot of people disagreed.I couldn’t finish those books but I do have a picture of Idris Elba running around downtown L.A. from a night we went swing dancing and they were filming nearby![]()
The swing dance hall was located in a leather duster?Yes. Yes I did.
Wait. No. No I did not, much to my dismay. He was just running around the block where the swing dance hall was located in a leather duster.
